And yes an underground rapper can be one of the best ever, Maybe he just has poor beat selection, that doesn’t eliminate anything from his lyricism or skills.
^^
It does not take from their technical skill, but it DOES take from their ranking IMO. the GOATs have beats & lyrics. they make the best songs, in all aspects, not just lyricism or beats. If Talib has a horrible ear for beats that takes away from his ranking.
That’s what makes Jay so great, he has lyrics, beats, hooks & everything in his catalog.

LOL. It had some lyrics, but there was no point to that album. everything sounded like it was trying to be a single. It’s the album that made Meth realize he had been fuckin up & led him to make 421 which is lightyears better.

@plug
I’m not sure, but that title did ring a bell, it could be it, I gotta ask my homeboy since he was the one that put me on with the cd. If it was the title, where can I download it at?

I didn’t know that No ID helped produce those Blueprint 1 tracks… Why couldn’t they just say that the tracks were produced by Kanye West and No ID???
Whatever. SHit is still dope.

Just because you buy the album doesn’t mean its a classic retard, thats pretty much waht you’re saying
And yes an underground rapper can be one of the best ever, Maybe he just has poor beat selection, that doesn’t eliminate anything from his lyricism or skills. Most people that listen to rap now a days listen for the beats, something they can dance too, they could care less about the lyrics. Why do you think rappers like Flo Rida, Ace Hood etc. are huge? Be logical dude, people don’t put lyrics on the pedestal like they use too, thats why all these wack rappers get big, they get one lucky connection, get a catchy beat, and say a whole bunch of bullshit over the track, and then get club play. No lyricist like Joell Ortiz, Royce etc.. will get played in a club because thats not the kind of music they make.
__________________________________________________________
I been half playing with this cat with this argument, but I’m going to end this purist’s nahright career.
I didn’t buy the album dumbass. I thought the Carter 2 was decent just like YOU thought it was. But I understand why MILLIONS of people call it a classic. Get off your fucking geographic high horse. You prolly think Ecstatic is an instant classic.
NO and undeground rapper can’t be top 10 dead or alive rapper. How can you be top anything if no one is willing to buy or listen to your shit. Understand the logic homey
Most people have ALWAYS listened to whatever type of music for dance and beats and Hip-hop is just another genre of music that people want to dance too. Lyrics is not everything and is not a trump card. Dude you only think there is one way to make music. the 90′s got you warped son.
Joell ortiz wont make it in the club cause he can’t do and is unable. Jay is able to do it while still being a better underground mc than Joell.
If you’re great you’re great at all Levels. Joell ortiz is only good at that type of music which why he’ll never be top 20. Get a grip dude, you’re a 90′s nerd, who think there’s only one type of music to make. You dont understand music at all.

The Wu had a lot of hot solo albums, but the best of the best are Dirty’s Return to the 36 Chambers, OB4CL, Liquid Swords, Ironman, Pretty Toney, Fishscale, I personally liked Tical but I don’t think its better than the top 4 ghost albums

not to mention, you could see LeBron giving Brown the gasface during timeouts and on-court during the Orlando series … but it aint all Mike Brown’s fault LeBron’s teammates are a bunch of has beens, and never will be’s … Danny Ferry built the roster .. fire him too …

^the group mixtape is done, my solo mixtape “the next chapter” is coming real soon, it’s all on me, it couldvé been done, but I hate writing lyrics at home, i’m too busy doing other shit, I love writing at the studio it just gives me a better feel to the beat & everything, when I write at home, I tend to not ride the beat like I would if I write it on the spot

death of auto tune, i’ma stay relevant to the topic. Jim said Jay knockin the hustle cuz dude’s gettin cheese for autotunin their shiets but, i love this track. what jim needs to understand is that it’s not about the money, it’s about the culture. people forget that now that it’s become big business. money didn’t make hip hop, it’s the lack of money that made it remember? money was taken out the equation and hip hop was born. now money wants to reclaim it and swallow it whole. all i got to say is that we just need to take care of the culture. if we do that, then money comes automatic…. on our terms and not theirs. but we keep sellin out cuz we hungry so the leverage remains on the big business’ side. DOA is just a wake up call nah mean? we need to take the power back from the execs. word to yo mom’s. hahaha!

Beats maybe. . . Lyricism is pushing it, dude’s really fallen off imo.
Everyone is buying this shit. . . anyone with taste coulda told you autotune was whack a year ago. Jay-Z comes late to the party with a (hypocritical) lame ass song – am I the only one who can’t stand D.O.A? repetitive ass intro/outro to every verse and he doesn’t even flip his rhyme scheme once, not to mention the lyrics are straight up garbage. Anyone else remember Phonte calling out Kanye/Autotune last fuckin year?
