Curtis Sues Contractor
Damn, these guys saw Boo Boo coming. Curtis is suing a CT based contractor for allegedly overcharging him 60 times the original quote for repairs to the overvalued mansion that he recently took off the market. After quoting the repairs at 50K, the construction company hit him with a bill for $6 million. That’s a million more than the $5 million value placed on the entire property by a local realtor, who scoffed at Curt’s $14.5 million asking price.

when a contractor completes work on a residence or commercial structure and the bill is not paid, the contractor then utilizes the unpaid invoice as a basis for filing a “mechanic’s lien” against the structure. if the lien isn’t removed, the contractor becomes a secured creditor against the property. the owner of the structure must then sue to plead with the court to remove the mechanic’s lien.

of course if he already paid he’s gotta sue but if he doesn’t pay he can’t take them to court over a bill he didn’t pay. the contractors can take him for not paying and he can counter…
