    … again ask Land I said I wanted no parts of that trade before the Mets got him, I wrote a post on the now defunct alumnah about how I was glad he went to the Mets because you could already see he was hanging his slider too much and his Changeup ( which was his best pitch ) just wasn’t as dominate as it used to be, I said he would benefit greatly from going to the NL facing weaker lineups and a pitcher instead of a DH every 9 innings, not to mention I watch about 90 % of the games, and like I said would I rather have Santana this year than them sure but melky is just 24 and Hughes is 22 they are only getting better not doing the trade and waiting to get CC and Burnett was better for the future of the team …. smh @ you not grasping the concept ….

    Phil Hughes is going to be a beast i used to think he was Mike Mussina with no control or commad of his pitches overrated prospect that was mis-scouted but he looks more like the power pitcher(like all the scots said) than the trick pitcher i he looked when he was throwing 90-92MPH….Melky is a clutch player who is a GREAT Centerfield if he hits 290-.300 instead of .240 he’ll be considered a TOP 5 CF in the MLB so a possibe number 1 pitcher and a TOP 5 CF for 1 pitcher who is heading into his 30s…….i would hang up the phone on a GM if he asked me for what Minnisoda was asking…people forget Santana was going to be a free agent that year if the Twins didnt trade him so we could have gotten him without trading for him but the METS pretty much made the HEIST of the century in trading CARLOS GOMEZ and a bunch of other niggas and the dumb Twins took the deal

    MESA, Ariz. — Chicago Cubs pitcher Mark Prior scoffed at statements made Thursday that he has used steroids and that is the reason why his strained right Achilles tendon is not healing.
    Jack McDowell, a Cy Young winner who pitched for the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Anaheim Angels from 1987-99, told Sporting News Radio and the Chicago Sun-Times that Prior’s slow recovery is a sign of steroid use.

    “He has a tendon injury that’s not healing,” McDowell said. “You shouldn’t have a problem like that that doesn’t heal in a month. That’s what happens to guys who use steroids.”

    McDowell then said he wasn’t “suspicious” of Prior, “but that’s one of the tell-tale things. What happens with steroids is the muscles get too strong for the tendons. You have a lot of tendon blowouts or tendinitis that doesn’t heal.”
