The Trailblazerz MPC are finally ready to set free their long-awaited mixtape, BLOG BLVD, which showcases their production talent over some of the Windy City’s finest emcees. I believe this is set to drop sometime next week, so in the mean time they were nice enough to let me liberate one of the GLC features. This one is called “Stripes & Stars”

I didn’t know Sha and em were still on good terms.
A few weeks ago I was hanging out with 50 Cent’s right hand man, Sha Money XL at his One Stop Shop Producer Conference In Arizona. After a day of talking about business, beats and breaks I pulled him aside to address some of the G-Unit rumors for our faithful readers of TheUrbanDaily.com. While he started out pretty calm I think the Redbull kicked in and diplomacy went out the window. Gotta respect his honesty, but we cleaned it up a bit for you folks at work.

Yesterday, Billboard reported Jay was close to a deal at Beyonce’s label, Epic Records.
Today, the NY Daily News claims Hov is headed to a Lyor/Liles/Kyser reunion at WMG.
Jay-Z may be a free agent for now, but he’s in talks to cut a deal with WMG/Atlantic that could make him one of the richest and most powerful men in music.
A well-placed industry source tells us that Jay – who recently left Def Jam as a recording artist (he served as its president from 2004-2007) – has been taking top-secret meetings with his old pals and former managers Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles. Topics of the hush-hush conversations have included giving Jay his own record label at WMG, tentatively to be called the Carter Music Group.
“Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends,” says our insider. “He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now – and very privately – is something finally starting to happen.”
Our source adds, “This is big in hip hop. These are three of the most powerful men in music, who might be working together, and there’s no question the success they’ll have as a team will be huge.”

The good folks at illRoots and DJ Mixx recently launched a new remix series called The Sequels in which they commission new versions of classic material from the original artists. Sort of like what Smirnoff and Reebok have been doing, but without all of the corporate shilling. For the first installement, which I slept on, they had the Bush Babees (remember them?) revisit “Remember We”. For episode two, which dropped today, they linked with the legendary Treach for a rendition of Naughty by Nature’s classic “Uptown Anthem” from the Juice soundtrack. While I think it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see any artist outdo one of their classics, this is a pretty faithful interpretation of the original.

Kanye West says he’s been there before. “I’ve had girlfriends who had girlfriends,” he said. So when he discovered what Lady Gaga was actually singing about on “Poker Face,” he was attracted to the record. Then when he saw her perform a different version of the song on the Internet, he was hooked. Kanye sampled the song for Kid Cudi’s next single, “I Make Her Say,” which was formerly titled “I Poke Her Face.”
“It’s a single for Cudi,” Kanye explained. “Due to radio, the name of the song is called, ‘I Make Her Say.’ When I saw that YouTube, that’s what made me fall in love with the song — when I saw her play it the acoustic version. I could hear all the melody lines. On the ‘Poker Face’ single, she sings it straightforward, almost, like, ripping it or chanting it. But this [acoustic version], you hear the Broadway melodies run up and down. I was inspired by that. I wanted to sample it. I thought it was really dope — just on some hip-hop, ‘Say when I p-p-poke her face.’
“All the backstory to the song is really controversial,” he continued. “When I found out that her actual song is about her making love to her boyfriend but really thinking about her girlfriend, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s crazy.’ For us to even flip it to another level and challenge people’s opinions, that’s it.”
Related: “Kanye was right, that’s exactly what the song is about.”
After the jump, Cudi’s first encounter with the paps.
He will be dropping his album on Tres Records.
