Exactly. Whether you agree with the sentiment or not, Jay was not implying that knowledge was wack, just that Nas’ “deepness” was really just nonsensical bullshit.
And Jay didnt contribute to hiphops downfall by dumbing down his lyrics or content, he did it by forsaking traditional East Coast hiphop production and cosigning the Hot Boys and UGK. Both dope groups, unfortunately the floodgates opened after that.

I hate it when Nas stans try to make Nas seem like he was strictly hip hop his whole career and didn’t “sellout” when in fact he tried plenty of times, he’s just too corny of a rapper to have a mainstream following…Nas albums don’t go gold in a week now…I like both of them, but when you look at who’s covered more ground, it seems Nas been in one place for a while..now he’s just pathetic, trying to appeal and stay relevant..Hov on the other hand, while he was releasing great music, he built up a legacy behind it, whether it was a team of rappers, clothing line, trends, etc..while at the same time delivering a exceptional quality of music for the ‘heads but also expanded for the non-’heads..when somebody disses how “mainstream” Jay is, you can always bring up RD or BLP..if somebody complains about his hip hop antics, you can bring of Vol.1-3 and so on..
