I didn’t know Fashawn was only 20 years old. Alchemist said Fashawn reminds him of a west coast Nas, and he admits he only heard Illmatic in 2003 (no Soulja Boy).
Fashawn live with Peter Rosenberg on his “Real Late” show Sunday nights. He talks about his comparisons to other greats, his debut album and how he met The Roots for the first time. Boy Meets World coming this August.

In the clip Fashawn says he didn’t hear it til 2003. Alchemist worked with Nas on God’s Son, so I bet he heard it before then.
