   dont get married if you’re earning over 100k. If you make less and know in the future you’ll be making more, its ok to get married, but make sure 1/3 of your income goes to a secret stash.

    I read something from Wendy Day on Allhiphop that relates to Cam’s label and the sales and marketing issue, its actually talking about Trill Ent. deal and how they went with Asylum as opposed to Universial.

    “The thing about Universal back then, was they spent the necessary money on marketing and promotion to drive their artists platinum. On the flip side, Asylum was an “incubator” for artists that the WEA system didn’t think could ever sell above 250,000 CDs. This limited thinking then forced the artists to never sell high numbers. If you go into a project expecting it to fail or to sell low numbers, it almost always does. ”

    “The upside to Asylum is that as an “incubator,” they offered a larger backend split for their deals…often 65%. If I owned an indie label, however, I’d rather have 20% of five million, than 65% of one million dollars. Both the money and opportunities would be bigger.”

    I added that to express the point that low sales does not instantly make you a failure financially and that the way your deal is structured is generally your key to success, I know that should be obvious, but Im kinda getting weary of these weekly sales contests and how some are quick to label an artists hard work as a flop, when they have neither heard it or have any music industry business acumen.
