We black people need to stop being alarmist. Some white people do like us, some tolerate us, some hate us. I don’t think Asher belongs in the 3rd category because he’s a 20-something with a goofy sense of humor. Let’s go after the vendors that put walmarts in our communities, let’s go after high fructose corn syrup based products, let’s go after the rappers that regularly brag about how much they poison their brothers and sisters. The Post has a history of doing shit like that & getting away with it. I feel the attention that issue recieved was warranted.
This Asher shit is nowhere near as important, but as a fan of Hip-Hop, it does matter to me. Overall, the issue is whether or not you’ll choose to support Asher Roth after his comments. I wasn’t supporting him prior to his comments so in that sense this doesn’t change how I feel about his music. But it’s interesting to see how people are so willing to let this slide.
