if you think about it a rapper who has been rapping since he was a kid for example 5 years old when hes 20-21 year old and releases his album the rhymes have been the works for 15 years,that rappers probably saved his best rhymes for his debut album…that upcoming rapper probably went through years of sorting through beats,Nas demo a.k.a “The Lost Tapes” was recorded 90-91 period alot of the rhymes from those tapes were used in “Illmatic”…now there are certain cases where that upcoming rapper doesnt have any direction to what he wants his albums to sound like in the case of Eminem he switched his whole style up for the SSLP after the debocle of “Infinite” but for the most part 90% of the time the first LP is allways the best album

same thing with ross is the EXACT same thing with wayne. You have to let it simmer and ride for a while till all the righteous hip-hop blog heads come around. It will take time, but it pains them to see a southern artist, make a classic album and abstract lyricism combined with fantasy metaphors not be at the forefront of a classic album.
It actually has nothing to do with the music. Its the perception and the ingrained sounds on what good rap sounds like to them and if its not the norm than it can’t be good.
Not liking ross actually has nothing to do with the music. But 1. Geographic locations 2. Age 3. Income / Education 4. Musical influence as a child 5. Perception of others in various regions etc…..

I heard the full album so no matter when it drops I can call it a classic. They called blueprint a classic when it came out. Illmatic a classic when it came out. Chronic is a classic when it came( and Dr. Dre is a mediocre rapper).
I digressed, but anyway. LYRICS is NOT a trump card. when will people realize this. Backpack lyrics don’t make you hot, if this was the case. Canibus would be the greatest rapper EVER. East coast is a more lyric focused region, that doesn’t make it better than the south or west, its just that the music dominated in New York for so long, that they ingrained the rules on how to judge rap and people think this is the only way of judging it. Your source standards is crumbling.
Mad niggas in the south think wu is trash, why? they didnt grow up with that type of music. You will call em crazy just like they’ll call you crazy for saying Maino> ross. Open your mind. There is not one way to judge music. Lyrics is not a trump card. Its proof in who people consider the best rappers alive. Every top ten list is basically cause of hot flow first.
