Slim shady = crazy first single, album was his most lyrical (not including ïnfinite”)

Marshall mathers = even crazier first single, album reflected his struggles with becoming famous, more over the top tracks, THE ALBUM WITH STAN ON IT, nuff said

Never let em first singles fool you, I stop checkin for him after the 4th joint (no top paper) but after hearing this, I got the feeling he’s back on his shit delivery wise, flow wise & he never lost his knack for putting words together, now i’m looking foward to this album, I mean it can’t be no worse than the 4th album right?

This is weird, but different, and I can forgive the weird musical number feel to it. Em’s back to rhyming his ass off, and yeah, this is definitely The Real Slim Shady/Just Lose It/My Name Is/Without Me type stuff.

Em’s dope at the satire tho’, and he’s gotta know that people weren’t happy with Encore’s “You’ll take it and like it!” indifferent kinda vibe.

Also, and this must be stressed, Em’s head and shoulders above all but like 5 or 6 rappers–All Time–so anything he’s doing now, even if it’s not what we’d necessarily want, is gonna be better than the tripe on the airwaves today.

Morph, you’re obviously a Nah Legend, and you’ve helped me thru my own oft-publicized bouts of emo and whatnot, but just for once, break character. Em can rap his ass off, he can write a hook, and his albums have cohesive themes. Is his importance overstated? Yes, but come on, while he does have his core topics, they’re unique to him.

How many fuckin’ times–for how many fuckin’ years–can we hear about the club and guns and coke and all that other bullshit?

Hip-Hop’s subject matter hasn’t changed in 15 years–only the brand names have. Worst part is, it’s not even at a high level anymore. Yeah, Kanye drops name brands, but he’s doing it at a higher level, inside of good concepts, as part of fully realized projects.

So that being said, Em gets credit for creating his own lane.

I remember saying a while ago that I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else started writing for Em after he signed with Interscope and Dre and I said it because you really have to look at the investment Em, as an artist, was. I think Dre and Iovine understood how heavy the money could be if they got a white kid that could cross over but still be authentic to where hip hop fans felt like he was a real talent. In realizing that there would be NO WAY either of them would let him go in the studio and make whatever he wanted as an artist. They made his raps as crazy as Insane Clown Posse only the raps were lyrical so hip hop listeners could hear he was technically sound. But bottom line nobody puts money into something that is 100% uncertain what the outcome could be. Especially not some white kid from Detroit. No shots at Em cause he’s made some stellar music. I just don’t feel like it’s all him.
