BK Cyph – ‘The Voice’ Freestyle

I was deeply influenced by mid-90’s underground hip-hop and Stretch & Bobbito’s was THE PREMIER underground radio show in NYC at the time. I would sit and listen to their shows dreaming of one day getting my shot. I finally got the chance to play my demo for Bobbito one night and was crushed when he simply said that he “didn’t like my voice.” I swore that I’d quit rapping that night, but when I woke up the next morning I felt empty and just needed to write a rhyme.

I’ve gotten a lot better as an MC since that night and as I get set to release my new mixtape “Rhymes Are Easy, Life is Hard” I figured I’d bless ya’ll with this freestyle explaining how that one night with Bobbito changed my life! PS. No shots fired at all. I love Bob and have always appreciated his honesty! That dude is a legend.

- BK Cyph

He’s getting ready to release his Rhymes Are Easy, Life Is Hard mixtape. In the meantime, he decided to drop this freestyle over the Rick Ross – Mafia Music instrumental. (This will not appear on the tape.)

Fat Joe – Hey Joe (Produced By Infamous)

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Fat Joe speaks at the 92Q Music & Entertainment Seminar at the BCCC Fine Arts Building March 8, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Well look what we have here! It’s funny, because I was out last night at Harlem Lanes talking with Meka from The Source and he asked if I’d heard Fat Joe’s new album, which I replied “No”. He then proceeded to tell me about this Jimmy Hendrix’s sampled joint called “Hey Joe” and how utterly disgusting the track was. After totally forgetting about the conversation, my homey Sowmya K from IceMedia sends me an email with this song attached. Ahhh, it feels good to have friends all over the place. Catch Me If You Can! Proppers to Sowmya K from IcedMedia for the alley-oop!

Produced By Infamous. Another NMC [online] premiere. (DJ Envy played it on New @ 2 earlier.)

Video: Big Boi @ Rock Band SxSW Lounge

Friday, March 20th, 2009

via MTV News:

But in-between the street and the stage, Boi did perhaps the most amazing thing of all. During a visit to the “Rock Band” Lounge, he decided to channel his inner Dave Grohl, jumping on stage and tackling the drums on Nirvana’s “In Bloom.” How’d he do?

Well, let’s just say that as a drummer, Boi’s a pretty good rapper. He struggled to keep up with Grohl’s pounding beat (as would pretty much anyone, it should me noted), and midway through the song, you can tell that he realized the whole thing was heading downhill fast, so he started going for style points alone (this is the same tactic I employ on “Rock Band,” BTW).
