Desire was a perfect album.
On all sides: lyrically, production, concepually (Trilogy, When The Gun Draws), musically.
He drops some of the greatest lyrics ever on this album (Agent Orange, Free, Lets Go etc.). Its the complete opposite of Internal Affair’s rawness. Instead, its beautiful.
As an album, from a music lover, you cannot tell me that Finding Forever, which was an album with few good songs on it, Eardrum, which was… (what was it?) and American Gangster which was the best out of the competition but cannot stand up to the timelessness of Desire. It also had bad songs (Say Hello, Party Life).

American Gangster which was the best out of the competition but cannot stand up to the timelessness of Desire. It also had bad songs (Say Hello, Party Life).

Party Life a bad song?
Nah b. Far from it.
But if you believe Desire is a classic, I can’t fault you.
Just find me one professional critic who agrees.

^ Party Life was admittedly mediocre (though the beat was crazy), but Say Hello bad? Nah.

pads like on an mpc which some people prefer when laying down drum patterns some people like doing the same thing with keys, just a preference.

thas one of those crescendo songs just cuz of the layering of the beat w/the sample……then by the middle of the 3rd verse when hes ra pa pa pa did fire shit…….sounds like you in a smoky juke joint w/bumpy knuckles and a whole buncha prohibition era gangstas smokin cohibas.

my fault si. what i meant was that their a strong hip-hop group who puts together a dope string of jams on mixtapes, ep’s, etc. minstrel show was mostly centered in my opinion around the frustration of the music industry. by the time getback came out they went thru gettin axed from atlantic and it seems like they just got back to that formula but put it on an album. i just said NC cuz of where they’re from and cause they IMO are the closest rendering of ATCQ (not the infamous athernaffy nah commenter) as it relates to consistent solid work.

I wouldnt buy a keyboard if your wanting to get into production, Just Get reason and a midi controller which is a keyboard but doesnt have a sound module in it hooks up to your comp via a usb and controls the synths in reason. Should be around 700 max. U might want to get recycle with reason if your plaining on doing sample based production.
March 29th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
fyi Reason is a computer based production platform some consider it a DAW The shortcomings on the vocal part makes me say otherwise. A lot of people use Fruitty loops cheaper than reason but doesnt have the amount of synth and other stuff reason has.
Soulja boy = fruitloops
dre = reason
I say that because this is what ive seen them using in vids.

Dre mainly uses rare synths and keyboards as well as live instrumentation such as orchestras.
