why throw someone on the roster if u don’t have the resources to help do ur part as a label to push the artist’s career forward

it’s not all about how much you grind. nobody grinds like donnie goines. if it was all about grind, he’d be kanye west. but he doesn’t have a big label behind him to get him that 106th and park look or that MTV look that u need to push shit forward. there are other issues with donnie such as his tired image and the fact that he still dresses like it’s 1999, but the point i’m making is that if u sign someone, there should be some sort of understanding that u have resources to help him.

if KPMG hires a young accountant and then he shows up at work and the boss says “we don’t have any clients for u” – wtf? the young accountant showed up ready to grind but the boss said that they won’t help him develop. that ain’t right

I don’t know if he signed him to Def Jam exactly, but he definitely gave him a strong push (including the Go Crazy verse) that helped a lot, plus when dude was still looked at as just another trap rap cat Jay took him to the MTV awards and shit, def gave him a crucial cosign.
