All those old Looney Tunes were mad racist. Foghorn Leghorn especially. Was Bugs black tho? He was always being hunted by a redneck, master of comedy, and did not appear to be gainfully employed.

So is Madea more ignorant then Boyz In The Hood or New Jack City or Don’t Be A Menace…?
^^
Of course Madea’s more ignorant that Boyz in the Hood. That was an excellent film. There was nuance to the characters, not broad stereotypes.
New Jack City was never marketed to families the way Perry’s movies are, and even though its a classic, its not because its a good movie.
Dont be A menance was a spoof, so I don’t see your point with this one.

I knew that, but I was saying the lawyer wasn’t portrayed in an offensive way. They didn’t make Johnny Cochran look dumb, they just put him in awkward situations in court with Kramer.

On Tyler Perry:
Dave Chappelle had an excellent quote on his Oprah appearance, in which he railed against the fact that Hollywood wants to put brothers in dresses…”all the greats have done it….”

White people will never go to Tyler Perry movies willingly because of how bojangling the marketing is. I’ve actually seen Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and I liked it, but I doubt there’s a lot of people who see House of Payne commercials and are like “Well, I’ll check that out sometime.”
And raise your hand if you’ve ever heard a white person say, “Hey, why isn’t there a White Entertainment Television?”

thats a weird statement bc you are personifying a cartoon character with that one. Like he a life and thoughts outside of the animation. If anything, it was the people at Warner Bros. And, there are plenty of Looney Tunes episodes without any racial stereo-types…
I’m not saying that the people at WB are safe because they made that shit at a time when it was deemed acceptable, but there is a reason why its a BANNED cartoon.

It’s sad to see so many black people hate on this dude. There are positive messages in his films but all people wanna focus on is the comedy. They are slapstick movies, what do you expect?
how you gonna say people don’t question white hollywood? that’s just not true.

They may question Hollywood, but cats are overly vocal when it comes to bringing down a successful black person. Stop being an ass and don’t pirate songs and movies. Pirate money and get legal material! Chinese hackers have cracked the algorithm that generates the iTunes Store gift card: You can get $200 for $2.60.
According to the blog of Outdustry—a music industry consultancy firm in China—the market is getting inundated with this pirate cards, with prices falling quickly. You can find $200 iTunes Music cards in Taobao for as low as $10, and the blog is reporting prices of $2.60. In fact, the prices are dropping dramatically as the number of vendors selling these cracked cards increase.

2 cents=
I NEVER watched Sienfeld, never found it funny, this “show about nothing”. BUT I remember when the shit hit the fan with Kramer and make no mistake that was some prejudiced bullshit. Folks are quick to scream racism but in fact a racist is a person who feels a way about someone of different ethnic make up AND is in a position to negatively affect that person’s life. MANY of us are prejudiced but VERY few of us are racist. See Dog the Bounty Hunter can be a racist but ,unless YOU work for Kramer, he couldn’t: he’s just another ignorant dickhead. As far as Martin was concerned, there’s no stereotype he could exploit about whites that could ever equal the years of flotsam that Hollywood and TV has pushed on Aeikkka from “Good Times” to “That’s My Momma” to “What’s Happenin’” to “Diff’rent Strokes” to…You get the idea. Martin had INSIDE jokes like, I dunno how he got the episode about club “Shizznit” passed the censors unless they were clueless whites who had no idea what “shizznit” really meant. Sorta like when LL promoted FUBU in a GAP ad.
So,
Martin>>>> Seinfeld, for me….

I don’t see it as coonish, really. If as a black person, you can’t recognize those stereotypes on the creen & see some truth to those situations, I dunno what to tell ya. These movies are made for black people & for us to overly analyze & criticize dude for trying to make entertainment that appeals to a wide audience, without being overly crude or sexual, just think it’s fucked up. This dude has made solid Black movies & a new Madea film got greenlit for 2010 so somebody is supporting these films.
March 10th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
The reason why blacks and whites both continue to make “stereotypical” movies and tv shows is because “WE” watch them. U can’t laugh at the sh*t in one breath, and then say “somebody” is wrong for portraying blacks like that. For example: It wasn’t just non-blacks watching that silly ass “Flavor of Love” show that made it one of the highest rated VH1 shows…
