of course there have been, but that’s the exception, not the rule. Jim Jones did like 80K on KOCH and that was with a HUGE radio and club record and that first week total was considered monumental.

you have to consider something these days… most people illegally download albums before they buy them, so first week means nothing since most people don’t even buy albums the first week anymore unless you’re a die hard type fan… so most people (with the exception of say a kanye, lil wayne, jay-z, nas… won’t be seeing those types of numbers in their first week

also one has to consider how many albums have been put out into circulations, if you only put out 50k albums and 15k get sold, that is pretty good for first week..

How so?

He didn’t have any songs on the radio.
Not much was spent on promotion.
Not much was pressed to go to Best Buy, etc.
There isn’t even a video for the album (yet).
The only major feature on the album is The Game, and he can’t be charging that much. Plus the production is in house.

It’s a quality album that didn’t cost Joey or Amalgam much. Plus when he does his mini tour, every show will damn near be sold out.
