>>So all that “drive & ambition” has him on Amalgam Digital, releasing albums no one in the real world gives a fuck about.
^shits disgusting b. being on Amalgam > being on a major. there’s plenty of people who care about a Joe Budden album, that’s all that matters or should matter to Joe. smh @ you defining rappers by whether or not they have a video on 106 and Park or TRL. kill yourself.
I remember one time I was working outside, hollered at a chick cause i see that fatty from the back. When I got up close she had some type impairment, she had one of those holes in her throat and couldnt she couldnt see that well. I remember I had to hold her arm to get her into the crib.
In general, no one cares about Joe Budden off the internet. He has zero buzz in the streets. Zero.
^
So what? who cares…what does this have to do with the price of fish (c)Rigga
step his game up to what exactly? lemme guess you want him to sign back to a major again and make another Pump It Up? then you’ll be happy?
=====================================
I want him to make an album that’s listenable. Padded Room is below average. The only people who hail it as a “classic” are stans. Padded Room doesn’t stand up to any certified Hip Hop classics, like “Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, etc. The way this cat gets overrated…that’s the disgusting shit.
>>The internet skews cats perception of reality. In general, no one cares about Joe Budden off the internet. He has zero buzz in the streets. Zero.
and you care about this why? if he found his audience on the internet and can sell records there, he shouldn’t? sounds to me like you think he should waste his time chasing the same drones who are buying up millons of Flo-Rida singles and then going AWOL when his album drops. I don’t see your point.

==========================================
Dope music doesn’t get overlooked. There are no hidden classics. That being said, as hot as the internets make Joe Budden out to be, people really don’t care about him. The Saigon beef was a ploy to gain attention cause no one cares. Dude is too good of an MC to be this complacent with his work. The Internet Soldiers are the reason Padded Room sucks. He knows he can put out subpar work & the stans will say it’s the dopest shit ever.
I think Amphs disdain comes from the fact the he feels Joeys overrated. That’s cool but that shouldn’t warrant your hate. Padded Room was dope, not a classic but not below average. And if niggas do think it’s a classic then to each his own.
if he found his audience on the internet and can sell records there, he shouldn’t?
============================
That’s the point, he’s not selling records.
I’m not gonna front, I was disappointed by PR. Too much filler and too many of the beats either suck or don’t fit the song. Some of the songs are fire though.
>>He knows he can put out subpar work & the stans will say it’s the dopest shit ever.
so you really think that Joe believes that the album is sub-par? you’re talkin like he went into the studio and was like, “fuck it, I”m gonna just make anythng and these niggas are gonna buy it”
and you’ve come to this conclusion based on your opinion that the album isn’t good. most of the Budden fans I’ve spoke to think the album is dope, so what you’re saying has no merit whatsoever.
Joe need to just put his resume on monster.com, nigga is not accomplishing nothing in this rap shit…Slaughter House can’t be consistant at 50 and 60 years old like Run Dmc or Dougie….
first of all, how do you know what he’s selling? you saw the Soundscans? and what do you consider “selling records”? because I’m pretty sure he sold some records last week. I highly doubt he didn’t sell anything. so what I think you’re saying is, he’s not going Gold or Platinum. and if those were the expectations you had, for Joe, in this day and age when the #1 album in the country only sold 60K, then you are out of your fucking mind.
so then say that. you’re over here talking about his buzz in the streets. what’s one have to do with the other?
=====================================
Joe Budden is too good of an MC to be relegated to the Internet. The fear of being viewed as “selling out” by the stans is preventing him from making good music. What seperates his mixtapes from his albums? Nothing.
And please lets all not forget the rappers albums sales don’t make us the fans shit, so lets not start counting rappers money. What do accolades have to do with good music? I need to know? Like someone enlighten me? We all know that dope music goes unnoticed, this is the era we are in.

your opinion b, in my opinion he is making good music.
what’s actually happening is, he’s making the music that die-hard Budden fans wanna hear. not the music that Def Jam wanted him to make, or whatever you and the other Monday morning A&R’s think he should be making. he’s being true to himself and his fanbase and he’ll be rewarded with a long career, you better believe that.

budden has now great beats !..
when nas had “got yourself”, “nas is like” or “thief theme”…
u can said that was on the same level
but needs a just blaze again to have a big success again

every era before “94″ nigga respect the younger generation….not Jay-Z and the rest of them niggas pushing 40, that’s why music is stagnant because niggas can’t let go of that era.
>>and you’ve come to this conclusion based on your opinion that the album isn’t good. most of the Budden Stans

agree with whoever said you sound like a broad for talking about sales. like you own fucking stock in Joe Budden. if you don’t like the album, then don’t listen to it. but don’t sit there and try to say dude is a failure when i’m willing to bet he has more money in his bank account right now then you do.
SMH. . . myspace does $1 billion a year in ad revenues?
eskay, you need a hip hop community. where unsigned artists could politic, and the big boys could go and scout for new talent based on who’s pages get the most views. . . . myspace, but with a very focused niche.
Smh at some so-called credible blog sites for their reviews of Padded Room. The album got good reviews in some places but others were totally unprofessional and embarassing for the reviewers. If you didn’t like the album thats cool. But places I used to think were credible like TSS and AllHipHop definitely did not really listen to the album. They didn’t even understand obvious concepts for certain songs like Exxxes (which is a very well executed song imo) and kept complaining about punchlines when PR is almost completely devoid of punchlines (something Joe did purposely). Its like they listened for beats and gave it a review. That is a disgrace to any real Hip Hop journalist out there. Again, if you think the album is mediocre cool, but actually listen to and ingest the album before you arrive at that conclusion.
Imo his album is very good, but I’ve heard it a few times and I am a fan. MM3 is still his crowning achievement in my opinion. That one is def a classic and my fav album of the past few years. MM2 is also better album wise.
As far as his buzz in the streets. I live in North Jerz my dude. I hear people bumping The Future, other songs from his album, songs from previous albums, and even freestyles, in whips, house parties, clubs etc. For an underground artist who doesn’t fit the mainstream typecasting of what a rapper should be, that is def impressive and is testament to the talent he has. Support him. He is one of the best lyricists breathing, he makes genuine down to earth music, he has done every type of song well, and he HAS MADE very good albums even if some of them were not official releases.
eskay i see you getting aggy but since you’re a smart fellow i fail to see why you can’t see the plain truth of the matter
bottom line: when you release an album straight to digital format, you’re bypassing huge swaths of the listening audience in favor of a much smaller group of people — many of whom already illegally download
i don’t like fif much but he was correct when he said that music isn’t like being a painter where you put on a smock and paint for yourself. if you’re a musician, you want your message to reach people. not 10 people. and it doesn’t mean you will change your music so that you sound like miley cyrus and appeal to 10,000,000 people, but it does mean doing something other than locking yourself in a padded room and entertaining yourself with music that only you like (no puns intended.)
no i don’t want poppy music out of joe. i want the mm3 joe. and the fact that joe is signed to any label is a good look. but let’s be clear that amalgam is an experiment. napster was an experiment. at first, it was pure gold. when they tried to monetize it, it became pure lead. we have no idea if amalgam can work over the long term. maybe so, maybe not. so far, the only label above water is atlantic, so we know lyor cohen is doing something right. or he’s lucky. everybody else is just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.
whoever says joe budden is a failure if he doesn’t sell on amalgam isn’t thinking clearly, but if someone is saying that amalgam is not the best look for an artist like joe, that could be a legitimate criticism because amalgam hasn’t proved itself yet.
Freeway last LP was cocaine and only did 25k the first week
Styles LP was cocaine and only did 25K the first week
Below The Heavens
Even Nas’ shit did 390
and countless other Lp’s
The moral is good music isn’t always based on record sales these days, this is rhetorical.
but there is not classics out from da new generation
it’s dat the real problem.
cudi, wale, gunz, … all
they need to put classic album or real dope, hot, consistant, relevant Albums !
and then people maybe will see the potentiel like a real talent out.

Do yall consider the roots successful? I’m willing to bet any major label artist besides em,jay,etc etc would love to have a career like the roots. They can tour until they hit their 70′s and niggas would still show up at shows.

exactly, and they don’t blow the sales out the water. . . their only commercial “success” was “things fall apart”
before it was big daddy kane, then ll cool j, then jz, then jigga, then hova, then jayz ..
before it was rakim, then nasty nas, then nas escobar then nastradamus then nasir jones then nas ..
BUT THE NEWEST GENERATION NEEDS TWO LEADERS AGAIN !
so people need to choose
What i don’t understand is bring up Amalgam Digital…lol…like what does this really have to do with the outcome of this music? Like why are niggas even preoccupied with his finances or any rapper finances for that matter. If you think the music is subpar then cool but using Amalgam as the crux of your argument is tomfoolery.
March 2nd, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Joe Budden is too good of an MC to be relegated to the Internet.
^^
I mean it seems to me that the hate you have for him comes from disappointment
===========================
It’s not hate. I think he’s dope, how many times do I have to repeat that? But you know what, you’ve got a point. My rants are fueled by my disappointment with Joe’s view on his own career. It’s like he’s given up. He’s stopped trying to be the nicest out. He’s settled for the easy route. Cater to the diehards & fuck everybody else.
Chea there is no money in cd’. People are just going to take that album that they bought at best buy or walmart and just rip it into their itunes to upload to their ipods. The world is digital now.
>>but it does mean doing something other than locking yourself in a padded room and entertaining yourself with music that only you like
^you’re also basing what you’re saying right now on your own opinion. you obviously didn’t like the album because if you did, you wouldn’t be saying that.
furthermore, anybody signing to an indie label, be it Amalgam or Koch or Babygrande, knows from jump that they are going to be reaching a smaller audience. but at the same time, they’re spending less and earning more per CD.
and for an artist like Joe, that’s the smartest move if you ask me. niggas are on majors, being strongarmed into making bullshit auto-tuned singles and then selling 20-30K on and not recouping. Joe just made the album he wanted to make on his own terms.
>>but if someone is saying that amalgam is not the best look for an artist like joe, that could be a legitimate criticism because amalgam hasn’t proved itself yet.
that’s not what Amp is saying though and you know it.
maybe in five years, internet will be the NEW OFFICIAL market music
and Amalgam Digital will be the leader of that ! budden will be billionaire so
loool
>>And how much stock you got invested in Joe Budden? The way you’re trying to defend the nigga, you’d think some promo dollars were finding their way into your pocket. But we know that’s not true.
I’m just countering your idiotic statements. smh @ you being mad because Joe has chosen to do what makes him happy.
yo 2Ok it’s good if u press 25K copies !
if u did 200k and u sell 20k dat’s a flop.
ask cormega, he said dat he sold 3Ok and he’s cool with money
straight to the next album. thus?
that’s not what Amp is saying though and you know it.
=================================
That’s exactly what I’m saying. He doesn’t belong on Amalgam fucking Digital. He has what other rappers wish he has. He can rap & he has a personality. He belongs on the biggest stage he can be on. Settling for an indie is just the type of lazt, complacent shit that I’m talking about.
Do yall consider the roots successful? I’m willing to bet any major label artist besides em,jay,etc etc would love to have a career like the roots. They can tour until they hit their 70’s and niggas would still show up at shows.
–Cosign, they have that rolling stones fanbase where catching one of their shows is a story for their kids.
I’m just countering your idiotic statements. smh @ you being mad because Joe has chosen to do what makes him happy.
======================================
Who said I was mad? The way you’re poppiong off, you’re the one who sounds upset.

as much as you’re talking about #’s and units sold, you’d think that you’d be paying attention to the state of the music industry right now. because if you were, then you’d know that niggas with way more commercial appeal than Joe ain’t selling dick on majors.
Pump it up was the biggest song of his career and he only went gold on his first album at a time when everybody was going platinum like water.
so what do you think his chances of having another Pump It Up are in this day and age? and even if he does, what are the chances that that’s gonna translate into big sales?
I’ll tell you right now that there’s no way he would sell 500K even with a comparable single. if you can’t see that, I don’t know what to tell you.
–You think that every rapper is like jay where they like to spend someones year salary at a club in one night and pop bottles with bitches in a music vid?
Nigga joey’s shtick is being the ‘average persons’s rapper. Dude is too humble to make “pop bottles’ music.
Anybody who reads everything I’ve said can see the logic in it & see that it comes from me actually liking Joe Budden as an artist. You can twist it & say I’m hating if you want, but that’s just cause I’m not gonna blindly follow the pack like the rest of the sheep.
I’ll tell you right now that there’s no way he would sell 500K even with a comparable single. if you can’t see that, I don’t know what to tell you.
===========================================
But he can start on the road to that level. It’s about grinding it out & expanding your fanbase. Joe has seemingly given up on trying to fullfill his portential & I blame the Internet Soldiers for making this lazy nigga comfy enough to put out mediocre music.
call me a stan like I give a fuck. if I was a budden stan, i’d admit it. i’m defending him right now because the shit you’re talkin makes absolutely no sense.

^^^smh @ at niggas trying ward off their homo tendencies….I wasn’t born with them so I have no problem listening to a grown man sing, that’s where I got most of my teenage game from…
So my father, your father and every nigga from the 50′s to the 80′s is gay because I know mad Pops that sing them songs word for word.
nigga I be on the train signing NOVEMBER 18 and both niggas and hoes know the words.
so you honestly think that any rapper whos not on Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne or Kanye’s level will ever again sell 500k?
you’re out of your fucking gourd man.
we will probably see a new rapper emerge who will rise to that level and do those #’s but if you think a dude in his 30′s, who’s been around for almost 10 years is gonna ever build his career up again to go gold, in this day and age, you’re smoking rock.
The shit I’m talking makes perfect sense. Every other MC is trying to be the best nigga out there. Joe has regressed, settling for the acceptance of rabid fans who’ll play his shit on a loop for three weeks straight. Whwere is the nigga who felt he could challenge Hov fro the crown? Where is the nigga who was killing the mixtape scene when he first came out? That’s the Joe Budden I was a fan of, not this emo nigga, bitching & moaning, making music no one wants to hear. The Future? ReallY? C’mon b, the nigga is better then that. At least I thought he was. Now, I’m not so sure.
but if you think a dude in his 30’s, who’s been around for almost 10 years is gonna ever build his career up again to go gold, in this day and age, you’re smoking rock.

I’m confused. Aren’t you supposed to like Joe Budden?
“…remember the summer
50 made fans start looking at the numbers
A&R’s won’t take risks, they won’t sign niggas
The word swag came out started to blind niggas…”
On the real, PR is dope, and I really can’t believe niggas aggy about the nigga’s beat selection IT GOES WITH THE LYRICS, ol’ A.D.D ass niggas! Outta 13 joints about 2-3 are questionable,if you a hip-hop nigga you can’t front on this album

March 2nd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
March 2nd, 2009 at 3:57 pm

March 2nd, 2009 at 3:58 pm
eskay i see you getting aggy but since you’re a smart fellow i fail to see why you can’t see the plain truth of the matter
bottom line: when you release an album straight to digital format, you’re bypassing huge swaths of the listening audience in favor of a much smaller group of people — many of whom already illegally download
i don’t like fif much but he was correct when he said that music isn’t like being a painter where you put on a smock and paint for yourself. if you’re a musician, you want your message to reach people. not 10 people. and it doesn’t mean you will change your music so that you sound like miley cyrus and appeal to 10,000,000 people, but it does mean doing something other than locking yourself in a padded room and entertaining yourself with music that only you like (no puns intended.)
no i don’t want poppy music out of joe. i want the mm3 joe. and the fact that joe is signed to any label is a good look. but let’s be clear that amalgam is an experiment. napster was an experiment. at first, it was pure gold. when they tried to monetize it, it became pure lead. we have no idea if amalgam can work over the long term. maybe so, maybe not. so far, the only label above water is atlantic, so we know lyor cohen is doing something right. or he’s lucky. everybody else is just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks.
whoever says joe budden is a failure if he doesn’t sell on amalgam isn’t thinking clearly, but if someone is saying that amalgam is not the best look for an artist like joe, that could be a legitimate criticism because amalgam hasn’t proved itself yet.

furthermore, anybody signing to an indie label, be it Amalgam or Koch or Babygrande, knows from jump that they are going to be reaching a smaller audience. but at the same time, they’re spending less and earning more per CD.

–You think that every rapper is like jay where they like to spend someones year salary at a club in one night and pop bottles with bitches in a music vid?
Nigga joey’s shtick is being the ‘average persons’s rapper. Dude is too humble to make “pop bottles’ music.
March 2nd, 2009 at 4:15 pm
Anybody who reads everything I’ve said can see the logic in it & see that it comes from me actually liking Joe Budden as an artist. You can twist it & say I’m hating if you want, but that’s just cause I’m not gonna blindly follow the pack like the rest of the sheep.

I’ll tell you right now that there’s no way he would sell 500K even with a comparable single. if you can’t see that, I don’t know what to tell you.
===========================================
But he can start on the road to that level. It’s about grinding it out & expanding your fanbase. Joe has seemingly given up on trying to fullfill his portential & I blame the Internet Soldiers for making this lazy nigga comfy enough to put out mediocre music.

March 2nd, 2009 at 4:22 pm
>>But he can start on the road to that level.
so you honestly think that any rapper whos not on Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne or Kanye’s level will ever again sell 500k?
you’re out of your fucking gourd man.
we will probably see a new rapper emerge who will rise to that level and do those #’s but if you think a dude in his 30′s, who’s been around for almost 10 years is gonna ever build his career up again to go gold, in this day and age, you’re smoking rock.
