Granted, a D’Angelo style sabbatical is career suicide. And yea, Wayne dropped a million mixtapes, but Kanye and TI are still going by the “JayZ model” and it seems to be working fine. Are they the exception? I guess they could be, but then, so could Wayne.
Quality will always win over quanity, and you’re right, a large quanity of quality can be beneficial in this day and age. But its still a better idea to drop one dope mixtape as opposed to 4 mediocre ones.

And that’s the thing. If he had trimmed some of that fat, and dropped, say, 5 mixtapes instead of 10, I think there would be less resistance to his music right now.
Charles Hamilton has genius potential, but it appears he lacks anything resembling focus, its like he makes music and puts it out with no grand scheme to bring it all together.

CH has a long way to go as far as lyricism goes, but his beats are ill and diverse. He flips samples to songs you would never expect could be turned hiphop. He is a mad scientist and Im more amped to hear his next beat creation thanhis next verse.

Pink Lavalamp and Intervention were both 100% dope so hopefully for his album he puts all of his creative energy into that ONE thing, trims the ok shit out and I promise you it will qualify as a classic.
