I stand corrected. But this proves my point—50 was still hot at the time. If checkmate had come out today, it might’ve been different story. agreed–except Ja really suffered more from overexposure. Nothing wrong with being a pop artist, but you have to accept that and not try to “Clap Back” after doing a song with J-Lo. (and he wrote J-Lo’s part). Ja really could’ve kept singing and survived just by taking a few months off.

My roommate from school went to a club and saw Ja there. She said he was smoking a blunt and security made him put it out. My roommate from school went to a club and saw Ja there. She said he was smoking a blunt and security made him put it out. He said I do what I wanna do or something like that, posing hard, and then after security was gone he tried to duck down and sneak another blunt on the low. Something about that story made him seem pathetic to me. Later we were out on South Beach and somebody was street teaming for his album release party in Miami. She straight up told the dude that she wouldn’t be at the party because she didn’t believe that his album should be coming out. Dude handing out the flyers just sighed and put his head down, like,”You’re right.”

Checkmate was nice…real nice….but I stand by my statement. And, at the time checkmate came out (May 07) 50 hadn’t dropped Curtis yet. People thought Massacre was a sophmore jinx, but when Curtis came out we realized he needed to repeat the 10th grade. Hijinx will get you attention, but eventually you have to make some good music.
