^Saigon is a different artist than T.I. Principals are not the same. In the past T.I has promoted street life. Sai’s always been on that lift my people up vibe. He can make music all day for his demographic, but how will he ever get that out on a major if he aint making the music they want.

Saigon’s argument makes sense, until you remember that Lupe is now a successful mainstream rapper on Atlantic that has maintained his intergrity. He could be the exception to the rule, or it could be that Saigon has more blame in his situation that he thinks.

I mean, I appreciated the message, but “Pain in my Life” were not great songs and “Come On Baby” were not great songs. They werent wack, but defintely not something that’s going to set you apart like “Kick, Push” or “Daydreaming”. Like cold said, Sai needs to get a little more creative (or just remember the mindstate he had when he made joints like “Letter P” or “Color Purple”.)

Sai’s persona won’t do much to uplift as long as he’s punching people in the face at SOB’s and other assorted dumb shit. Like you said before, I think his best bet is to go with gangsta rap that is peppered with consiousness. Keep in mind also though, that persona and all aside, Come on Baby and Pain in My Life just werent that strong as songs. That’s got to be taken into account for his treatment by the label, just as much as his dilemna regarding how gangsta/conscious to be.
