Nas - Fear Of Mandingo (DJ)

Well, that’s the more family friendly title. When Nas first revealed the existence of this track he referred to it as “The Fear”, which was actually shorthand for it’s full title, “The Fear of the Black Man’s Dick”.
It was recently liberated, along with another previously unheard track, by DJ 31 Degreez on his new mixtape, Eldorado Black Project.
Produced by DJ Green Lantern.

I think Nas feels that working with those people again isnt moving forward. I get the impression that for all the good it brought him, the success of Illmatic kind of haunts him in a way too. It was so good, that he spent the next 6 years getting shitted on.
Or, Nas just doesnt know a good beat from a wack one, and he needs Stoute or Serch around to point him in the right direction.

Sorta of LF, but I wonder which Superbowl matchup would make the higherups in the NFL the most happy (in terms of ratings and buzz). My guesss would be Eagles-Ravens, for the opposing stories of a vet QB redeeming himself, or a rookie QB doing what no other rookie QB has done before.

^ Nah ease, Nas is hip hop, he knows a good beat. I think its moreso not wanting his lyrics and content to be overshadowed by the beat itself. But if thats the case he’s not giving his listeners much credit. I mean a good beat is initially what grabs you (nope), but after the 3rd and 4th listen you start focusing more on the lyrics and overall content.

word cause at this point, it’s mostly the stans still buying cd’s so i don’t think having premo and large pro beats instead of commercial cuts would hurt his album sales.
i’m hoping for the consequence of declining record sales to be artists releasing the albums they really want to put out instead of compromising their art to push units.

Yea, I feel that, but hiphop is music. You’d never listen to an acapella album. I think it’s 50/50, you just can’t have a dope beat with wack vocals or ill lyrics over a wack beat. Its gotta be both to get the ill stamp from me. Word to 95% of Ras Kass’ catalogue.

That should be its main purpose (cuz if you’re not synched rhythmically, its going to suck regardless), but I think it should be more than that. I cant think of one classic hiphop song that’s beat wouldnt stand alone as an ill instrumental. Can you think of any? No sarcasm, I’m really asking.

@ BH- my little sister got tix (she’s in the Army), so she’ll be driving in from NC, braving the crowds and shit….I’ll pass on that, but I told her she can crash @ my spot…

LF : I like Ben’s Chili Bowl as much as the next dude, but I just dont see the big deal. It’s good drunk/high food, no more, no less.
^ Yea basically. It is just a historical landmark because everybody has eaten there. The food is good though.
My boss is walking the bridge Monday. I am sure thousands of people are doing that to dodge all the metro and boat fees. VA is expecting traffic on 95 to DC to start at Ashland which is an hour from Richmond (3 hours from DC). That is crazy.

the ability to cop tickets to one of the officially sanctioned inaugural balls

Bens Chilli Bowl is definitely the spot after the clubs. Either that, the carry out near HU or Ohhhs and Ahhhs. But there is nothing like a huge hotdog filled with chilli and cheese. There chilli and cheese fries are crack. But them hotdogs, woooweeee

Y’all ever been to this place called the Greek Spot off U Street? I started hitting it up in the summer. They got these things called chicken souvalkis (pretty much a gyro), that are the definition of cooked cocaine. Take out only.

^ It is a soul food place on U Street that serves breakfast around that time. Its overpriced like shit but sometimes I have the urge for fried catfish, scrambled eggs and their home fries. $18 for all that though. I have to be real hungry and drunk enough to pay all that for that, but it’s worth it…sometimes. The ladies in there serve you in tight t shirts and tight booty shorts

***My uncle was a DC sanitation worker for 30 + yrs, and he says that he used to find animal skins (cats, dogs, etc) behind those restaurants in Chinatown, and a few of the other carryouts….I know that, at this point, the cat/dog thing is believed to be a stereotype, but ol’ boy is mad credible, and there has to be a reason why you can only get 2 lbs of chicken fingers for $5 @ Chinese joints…

After pushing the boundaries of what is considered “Hip Hop” with his latest album, “808s & Heartbreak”, Kanye West wants to push the boundaries of what’s considered acceptable. The rapper/producer now wants to bare it all in a nude photo shoot.
Before Kanye takes it off for the camera, however, he wants to make sure he’s pleasing to the eye.
“I definitely feel, like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I’ll pose naked,” West told Vibe.
West adds that he’s not necessarily looking for attention, but wants to challenge American and black culture norms.
“I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture.”

***That’s not my normal commute- it’s typically 45 minutes- not sure what the glitch was, this morning….I had a job in Bowie, with a 12 minute commute, but I gave it up for my current gig, which offered an extra $25K for my trouble, so I can’t complain too much…

The beat should be just used to synchronize you rhythmically,
^^
That should be its main purpose (cuz if you’re not synched rhythmically, its going to suck regardless), but I think it should be more than that. I cant think of one classic hiphop song that’s beat wouldnt stand alone as an ill instrumental. Can you think of any? No sarcasm, I’m really asking.
