See i didn’t want to get into this again but when your battling someone its different, thats why some niggas are nasty but aren’t battle rappers. Just because Pun is a legend that doesn’t mean he counld’t lose to a nigga that isn’t a legend, thats not fair to exclude beans because of Pun’s status. Is this really your analogy regarding my assessment? Your solely going off the fact that Pun is a legend and im talking about a particular battle. [...] So I met Fashawn a few weeks back at Evidence’s Layover release party. The first thing I noticed was just how happy and carefree the guy was. Everybody at the party was chill, but this guy stuck out like a sore thumb, freestyling for virtually anyone out on the patio and just killing every verse on the spot. What was even more strange about the situation was he wouldn’t let anyone film him freestyle, which just made each bar seem that much more special. So Fashawn and his manager let me know about this new mixtape coming out, little did I know that it was actually inspired the 90s John Singleton movie Higher Learning, featuring literally the most random assortment of actors. The mixtape came out over the holidays through Nah Right and OnSmash and it’s definitely another big step for this young rapper out of Fresno. Look out for Fashawn’s debut album later this year which will feature production from Exile, whose debut album, Radio, will be coming later this month.
