December 3rd, 2008 at 2:32 pm
hold up, Kanye outsold Chinese Democracy? thats the end of that discussion right there. Yeezy won.
^^^
yea, that’s major. . . but fuckin GNR took waaaaaaaaaaay too long to come out with that shit. . . the attention definitely waned a lot!
remember when they closed the VMAs some time ago with a song from chinese democracy, and the buzz was ridiculous?

December 3rd, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Big Pimpin’ had a simple, but effective hook…
December 3rd, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Jay-z uses a lot of supplemental hooks plug….where there’s an additional vocalists in the back or foreground while he’s saying something too

Pharrel hook. I think Jay makes dope hooks, but the hooks on most of his big records are either interpolations, written by the producers, or in the case of I just want to Love ya, written by Sparks (he came up with the “gushy stuff” part, Pharrell did the rest of course).

Justin any day of the week…..because Just’s style works well with Jay’s live shows, he can hear the instrumentation of the track when he’s laying it down (nope). Kanye gave Jay some crazy beats but performed the track underperform cause the band playing it doesn’t have a lot to work with.

I remember me and land was talking about that one day and those were some of the hardest bars jay spit….

word … “So ghetto” … “do it again” … and “Hovi Baby” is IMO Jay’s best performances …

word … vol 3 started out with fire, “so ghetto” & “do it again” & “dopeman” … then it quickly fell off… i kept 1,2 & 3 on repeat …

and track 10 on there and we have a deal.
drescott storch made a classic beat right thereDecember 3rd, 2008 at 3:24 pm
plug if you say you like jay-z, niggas will think you dick riding…..and thats the most obvious person to like….so nobody will actually admit to liking his songs….
plus if you leave all his personal life out and just listen to his songs…you can’t help but to say jay is nice…

The Watcher, Murder, Come and Get Me, and NYMP.
^ True that..Vol 3 started out classic material..then it kind of got into the popish souther type ish…which was okay, but then it got better with those joints above. I think that’s why nobody really talks about it. When you think of Vol 3, you automatically think of So Ghetto and those songs when most people think of Big Pimpin (not taking anything away from that track though)

Hovi baby could possibly be one of the greatest songs ever made. right up there wit Rakim’ s lyrics of fury and Dont sweat the technique

its different up here. we like to listen to things we can relate to. me personally, I listen to whatever Im in the mood to. but for the most part. cats up here like what ever they living. thats why gucci mane and jeezy is so popular, plus sounds are big time up here, if ya songs dont bump, you lost the whole midwestern market

I’m so far ahead of my time, I’m bout to start another life
Look behind you, I’m bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I’m fast, niggaz can’t get past my past
How they propose to deal with my perfect present?
When I unwrap “The Gift & the Curse” in one session
Ain’t no livin person can test him
Only two restin in heaven can be mentioned in the same breath as him
Seven straight summers, critics might not admit it
But nobody in rap did it, quite like I did it
If you did it I done it before, you get I had it
Got mad at it and don’t want it no more
And that goes for everything from flippin that raw
Flippin whores, flippin vocal chords, don’t get it twisted
Get it right, did different, did it better, did it nice
Did the impossible then did it twice (get it right)
