i have to be honest and say that charles fell off my radar
it’s funny because ever since weezy started being so prolific, everybody in the game assumes that if you drop 78 mixtapes on people in anticipation of an album, they’ll be fiending for your album
i actually find it to be the opposite. i like to see a focused effort, maybe one or two mixtapes at the most, to warm me up [||] on some “this is what you can expect from the album plus here’s some other shit that sounds good, and i’ll see you on release day”
charles hamilton has literally overwhelmed me. i don’t know anybody who i’m friends with who has uploaded every single mixtape to the iPod and bumped that shit and really absorbed that shit in anticipation of the album dropping. okay maybe ty but i only know him thru the internets. i’m talkin bout the cats i fux with in person - poz. none of them are into charles like that because how can u be. you’d have to quit ur job and only listen to charles all day.
bottom line, i think it’s possible to drown people - in a bad way - instead of building ur buzz and getting the streets (and internets and cafeterias and everyone else who discusses/anticipates rap) amped in a steady way
please rappers don’t give us a freestyle or a mixtape every day or every week. pour your heart into a few dope singles and maybe one or two mixtapes and then drop some shit. that’s my 2 cents

on a few of those mixtapes he is … not as much on the last couple … he may be running out of ammunition … like Latarian was saying earlier, i too, never understood him putting ALL his cards on the table so early … mixtapes every two weeks … those first 4 or 5 mixtapes were 5 years worth of LP material … i hope he has something saved for the actual LP, because you can tell he’s kinda running out of gas on the mixtapes … either that, or im starting to get tired of the bi-weekly routine … slow down cowboy … NH
