I’m just wondering how it fits in with “Jockin’ Jay-Z”. It seems he has an idea at first, and it’s a good idea, but it doesn’t match the concept of the whole (Blue Magic to American Gangster)
November 7th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
i think jockin jay-z is just a bonus track
November 7th, 2008 at 5:56 pm

November 7th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
blue magic was the first single, and then he felt as if it had more of ’80s aesthetic, but was searching for a ’70s aesthetic
November 7th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
The best part of this song is the hook…and Jay saying “Lighters!”
Prolly the least entertaining song Jay has had on the radio since…well..ever?

this isn’t the type of song where flow is even important. who listens to a big, epic song like this and then complains about the lack of flow? this is clearly made for crowds of 20K and up and flow don’t mean shit when you gotta reach those people up in the rafters.

Everyone knows that the pyramid with the all seeing eye is an old illuminati/masonic symbol. Jay pushes that shit beyond belief, at what point in your life have you ever been just so excited about a symbol that you just wanna show it wherever you go? I understand its on money, but in that johnny cash video that shit was eerie as fuck. Not to mention who he named his company after, its quite clear whose side jay is on.

While this song isn’t wack, it’s just not that hot shit that we have come to expect from Mr. Carter. Put this song against anything from The Blueprint and it seems like a throwaway that was taken from the trash, dusted off, and released.
There is so much mediocre music in the market that we get excited by an ok song like history. We need to watch out for stuff coming from Kid Cudi, U-N-I, Diz Gibran, Folk & Stres and Charles Hamilton. These guys are the future…
Just some thoughts…
