Well, MoCo does have the best school system in the country- when I was growing up, my pops was well aware of that fact, so I spent quite a bit of time in Gaithersburg, early on…K-3rd grade, then it was on to DC and PG county schools…I gotta tell you, the difference is remarkable…I went back to MoCo briefly in 8th grade, after spending much of the year going to Elliot Jr. High in DC- I was getting straight A’s in DC, without even trying, but in MoCo, I had to work my ass off just to get B’s…

I went to a rack of high schools in this area- Eastern (DC), Watkins Mill (Gaithersburg) , High Point, Einstein (Wheaton), and for a minute, Sherwood (Olney)….my son goes to school in PG, and so far, his experience is way better than what I remember- then again, he’s going to school in Upper Marlboro, whereas I was in Hyattsville/Langley park

***PG cops used to be a whole lot more blatant with their corruption and brutality, than they are now…back in the early 90s, they would randomly stop niggas and make you show proof of residence to get into your own neighborhood- kinda like what they’re doing in the Trinidad area of DC, now….I’ve had 4 friends in my life get taken out by the PG police, and not all at the same time…

***Even worse, the first time it happened, i was in 4th grade- this friend of mine got caught up in a police shootout- innocent bystander, just playing out front, and caught a stray- back then, the cops were reckless enough to fire on niggas out in the open, regardless of who was around…I think i told the story, about back in the day, these three cops in Hyattsville were beating an unconscious man with nightsticks, with this one black female cop straddled on his back and taking swings like Hannibal Lecter- on UNIVERSITY BLVD, in the middle of the day on a Saturday, and the cops were actually yelling out, “Move it along, unless you want some, too”—and they wonder why niggas hate them to the core?
