__________________________________________________________
Lol, I was never pro-south and still not pro-south…..I was never anti lyrical rap and still not anti-lyrical rap…….
What I am is anti emotional about the state of rap and anti contradiction…..I’m anti gate keeper, I’m anti generational….I’m anti only accepting artist if they sound like they’re from the 90’s….Thats why I say what I say cause hip-hoppers are so mad about this new state of rap, like they own it…..I’m anti regional also…
Most music I listen to is from 90’s era, but I’m not stuck in my ways…just because I didn’t grow up liking a certain sound of rap doesn’t mean that the other sound is wack its just different…

Boosie why you always talking about the 90’s rap B….like what you got against the 90’s?
_________________________________________________________
I have nothing against 90′s rap…that’s all I listen too….I have everything against 90′s gate keepers and those who listen to it and judge others from those standards…..They think that this shit is some phenomenon and that “their” music is the only good piece of music when the previous generation thought their music was trash and felt the EXACT same way they feel now….

I don’t think he’s the best either, if you’re judging rap by 90’s standards…….it’s a different climate, being the “best” in this rap climate than being the best ten years ago…
^^
Yea, being the best now means something different than being the best then. With that said, judging by 2008 and beyond standards, Ace Hood still isnt the best on the cover.

No homo, but me & boosie is on the same plane. Maybe it’s the age difference/region & overall tolerance w/o bias opinion between us that seperate us from the majority. Plug also, cause his favorite rapper is canibus, even tho I hate the dude bis, I can understand why he likes him, but his ear reaches out way further than most, & can accept *ahem*southern music*ahem* for what it is instead of comparing it to
90′s rapother aspects of rap. Co-sign ace hood being the most noticeable artist on the XXL cover, doesn’t matter if he isnt the most talented, the most talented w/o proper representation never gets mentioned, we all know that, but don’t throw the nigga that did make it threw the cracks under the bus because he got connections. That’s just how life iswhy it’s a nigga up north better than jordan who didn’t get that break? – jada
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:27 pm
@ Boosie
I overstand your angle but why just because it a new generation shuld i conform just because thousands and thousands like it? I am allowed my opinion and as are you but judging music by the 90′s standards arent bad standards to go by…everything reaches it pinnacle and in my humble opinion hip hop has is graudally on its way down the slope. That just my opinion, keep in mind i like alot of current down south rappers. But for someone to say they dont like someone because they arent lyrical by the 90′s standards isnt asinine by any stretch of the imagination. I think some stuff is entertaining and other shit is just wack. Just Because the teenage demographic is in love with it doesnt neccessarily means its quality music it just means it happens to be hot at the time…..just my thoughts

For the record, I got no problem with Southern hiphop. I copped Ghetto D, Aqumini, Hard Knock Life, and Black Star within weeks of each other and they’re all classics to me. Pimp C was a genius. Juvenile and B.G. are great MC’s. But that doesnt mean that the south isnt putting out bullshit (just like every other region). And when they do, niggas should call em out.
The worst thing that ever happened to hip hop was the creation of the “player hater”. Made it too hard to call a spade a spade.

^The point is he’s doing what every artist that wanna be known & wanna make money off there music is doing, being exposed to the public, do you think jeezy cared about being lyrical? Hell no, but you really think wale is rapping for the sake of rapping? Really? Really? I know ya’ll don’t think rappers rap, go to the studio & make these trackes for the sake of there health do ya’ll? That’s the whole purpose of rapping, easy e said it years ago, we tryna make money, so for real, fuck being nice if you can feed ya family being a bum at rapping, real talk, jay-z been said it, & he’s looked at as the god MC. So

___________________________________________________________
I totally understand and true there is a lot of trash going on in the south….BUT there was just as much trash popping off in the north during the 90′s as well but we put that on the back burner….Pop music of any era will always get played on the radio and basically its all lot of dudes who can spit in the south but you hear mostly snap and jig songs….BUT one can’t take that and be the meaning of what they are only about….I mean we were all underground heads and knew the real from the fake….but Most of us aren’t underground southern hip-hop heads cause that’s not the era we grew up in nor the climate..
AND you gotta understand….No generation has never liked the next generation’s music…that’s just understood….My moms didn’t like my music her moms didnt like her music and so I never get caught up into that. Good music will always be good music throughout any time period….Again before its all said and done, t.i. and wayne will possibly go down as top ten rappers of all time….you may say its assanine but in reality who ever has power always writes the history….New York had hip-hop for so long that whatever they said went, so now the tables have turned and it just isn’t so…..Thats just the nature of the game whether you like it or not…..Motown in Detroit had their run….they held it down….that style of music aint poppin no more….it is what it is….the nature of the game

There’s nothing wrong with Southern Hip-hop; it’s just when you say the south, you could mean florida, atlanta, alabama, what have you. They have a lot of talented cats, but many more garbage acts, just like in NY or philly or detroit. It’s just that every southern state is lumped together regardless of their differences. Because of that, people can say “the south makes shitty hip-hop” and can name 99 wack artists easily because the area is so big. But I’m pretty sure the ratio of good rappers/bad rappers matches NY’s or Chicago’s if not surpassing it.
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Blame Puff nigga. Puff. lol
^lol
For the record, ace hood sucks, but being the most talented has nothing to do with being the most popular, most of these niggas on these websites (no shots at none of ya’ll, seriously) be acting like that’s not a fact, the most popular = most loved = the one who’s looked at as better, back in middle school, who do you remember the most? The nerd who know every question, or the most popular kid at school who was fresh every day, etc? the big O had better stats that jordan, but who do they look at as the greatest? Exactly, so for ya’ll to say some one shouldn’t be mentioned with others because they aint as talented as ya’ll want them to be is really saying “I was a nerd in school, i’m a nerd now, so i’m rooting for the under dog” To say you don’t like ones music is one thing, okay, that’s your opinion, but to lie to yourself & say things like “ace hood isnt more noticable than charles” is beyond stupid.

^True, but nobody is checking for wale either, I know D.C niggas that don’t even know who he is, but everybody heard the “out here grinding” track, so when you say “you know who ace is?” they would be like “who?” you can atleast say “the out here grinding track, and the shit with trey songs” wale don’t have a video. How did most of these niggas find rap without living in ny or w/o a computer? smh there are so out of this world
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:55 pm

case closed Ace hood is more known than wale….
shits disgusting b…..smh at us arguing this
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:57 pm
more people know Curren$y then Ace Hood just off his association with Wayne.
I got money that says Blu has a bigger fan base and could fill more clubs than Ace Hood.
B.o.B. has a chorus on arguably the second biggest Southern rapper on the planet’s new album, which also happens to feature Ludacris.
and you’re tellin me more people know Ace Hood?
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:57 pm
To say you don’t like ones music is one thing, okay, that’s your opinion, but to lie to yourself & say things like “ace hood isnt more noticable than charles” is beyond stupid.
…. and your only talking about your point of view in B-more, so maybe you think Ace hood is more known in B-more but I promise Charles is more well known in the tri-state than ace hood,as Wale is much more known up here, now I realize the country exists of much more than those 3 states but thats all I can speak for just like you can only speak for b-more so for anyone to put one as more known than the other as fact is a ridiculous statement, unless you got some exit polls taken from registered xxl subscribers than you can’t say shit for fact …..
I still would have a hard time believing anyone on that cover is more known countrywide than Wale but thats just my guess
October 22nd, 2008 at 3:58 pm

But what does it matter who’s more recognizable? If that’s how you determine who’s a dope artist, you lost. If that’s not how you determine it, what point exactly are you making? That wasnt rhetorical. Seriously, what is the point?
