In a sense, that’s true. But you gotta keep in mind, when 50 was attacking, Ja had already started contributed to his own falling off by making wack songs (i.e. that shit with Bobby Brown, and the “Grease” video with Ashanit). If Ja had been making the same quality of music he was making in summer of ‘02, it would have been alot harder to knock him off (ll).
^I definitely co-sign. All 50 did was kick the chair from under him. He was trying to pull the sing-songy tracks WAY too much. I think he peaked around the 2 songs he did with J. Lo. Being that she was the most sought after entertainer at the time (both movies and music), Ja’s presence only added to it. After she did the “Jenny From the Block” joint with Styles and Jada (and totally disrespected the Beatnuts and Latinos by not featuring or propping them), nobody cared about Ja’s joints. It was all downhill from there. And the joint she did with Esco sealed the deal. That song was dope. And 50 was originally supposed to have been on that song until Irv blackballed him. After that, the beef only got worse with Ja and Nas in his scope. Nas had his vest and camouflage on and was ready. Ja was in the jungle with no vest, respectable ammo, or a strong enough platoon to back him. Finito.

I think it’s my own ego that has to take a step back and realize that no matter how confident I am in my own game, you gotta let management decide if your talent is needed/wanted at the time.
