You know Kanye isn’t infallible, the man doesn’t always gotta be perfect.
But, the other song that was performed live a couple posts ago seems to be over the top better than this one.

I remember when Wanye released Lollipop and all these same hardcore rap niggas said it sucked and would never sell, then it jumped to that number one spot and all those same niggas were singing it in the club. I expect the same thing from this track.
September 8th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Probably be on Itunes about 3 a.m. if you type in the title. They usually don’t come up with graphics and shit till like 6.

this won’t play in the clubs, lollipop had a sick beat, lyrically it’s ass and a tootoo… Love Lockdown is just lame, like he’s doing it on purpose so he can have a new excuse to have a hissy fit, when he knows himself the track is lame…

September 8th, 2008 at 12:21 am
aight, finally got around to listening. i think the song is dope as fuck, but truth be told i wouldn’t listen to it
twiceat all if it was written by Mickey Factz. but fuck it, same goes for everything in life, girls food etcsyou guys can’t front on the use of the heartbeat for the beat… that alone + lyrics = song is dope. Kanye’s always had good lines about women/love and plus the seperation with his fiancée means he’s gonna be talking some shit on here. a lot people won’t like it though, especially if this album is all love shit (like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33OLNn-8YJE). alotta people are gonna be mad
i won’t mind though… *steals Darth’s copy of Finding Forever while he’s distracted*

Harosa took the words right out of my
mouthtyping hands…this nigga on some Phil Collins shit. I knew after Graduation he would be on some full-on pop star shit, and this just confirmed it. Knowing damn well this nigga don’t sing like that…at least T-Pain had decency to come out of the gates on that auto-tune shit, but we’ve all heard Kanye try to sing before and it sure as hell don’t be soundin’ like this! If this is the direction Kanye’s going in, I might have to pass on this next album.September 8th, 2008 at 12:24 am

Hmm… Okay, I listened to it. The beat is okay, The chorus seems alright. I couldn’t make out a lot of the lyrics, but I’m sure they’re good. Kanye always has some shit worth listening to.
I bet this album is gonna be super high concept. This is all part of a bigger theme, bigger story. It just needs the proper songs before and after. I could tell he was going for something similar with “Drunk N Hot Girl”.. If you put “Goodnite” (with mos def) on it before DNHG and then “Bittersweet” after DNHG, it makes a whole story. I imagine those other 2 sons were left off the US retail because it sorta diverted away from the triumphant songs of the album.
Oh, wait, I forgot.. The NR haters are around.

Besides, do you really think after all the pressure of the Sales battle, the bonnaroo bullshit (they were on bs, not ‘ye), having certain critics not fully get the GITD tour, and…oh yeah, HIS MOM PASSING..that he was gonna come out with some upbeat, peppy shit?
For fucks sake, let dude be an artist. If he did the same shit as he did on either of the last 3, ya’ll would hate on THAT. Applaud the man for going in a different direction, if not different for planet earth, at least different for him. 99.9% of rappers find something that works and beat it into the ground with little variation, and that includes the rest of my favorites: Nas, Jay, Budden… They don’t venture completely out of their lane like ‘Ye does.
Give the man some credit and for the love of God, drop this uber-hater extraordinaire shit. We get it: You’ve got the most evolved taste in music ever. Let’s all agree that you’re the wittiest fucker on the planet, and then you can go play in traffic.
Yes, I just said “Go Play in Traffic”.

@ biz– honestly, I didn’t even think the autotune was bad. Weezy really plays aronud with that shit, but ‘Ye uses it sparingly, IMO.
(and no, biz, that rant wasn’t at you–i wrote it before I refreshed the page to see your comment)
Bahhh.. Enough of this, I got work in the morning.

Kanye Singing > T-Pain Singing.
But I still stay to hell with the vocoder.
September 8th, 2008 at 12:37 am
didnt like the song. beat was good but not great. kanye needs to stop all this vocoder bullshit. correction, every fukin rapper in the world should refrain from using that bullshit. let t-pain stick with that cuz lets face it, HE WOULDNT BE SHIT WITHOUT IT !!!

i cant really comment since i was listening really low on my laptop speakers…but it sounds…interesting, to say the least. i look forward to listening to it tomorrow with some earbuds. im sure its some good ish (c) me going bonkers first time i heard stronger around this time last year. new kanye in the fall/winter is a tradition i can definitely get used to.
*goes back into retirement*
September 8th, 2008 at 12:37 am
the performance is growing on me.
Doesn’t sound like he actually used autotune… its a different effect. Not a bad song, but like the other dude said, noone here would be feelin it if it wasnt by Kanye.
I doubt I’ll be bumpin it too much…

September 8th, 2008 at 12:38 am
I don’t really care to hear the studio version of this track its still gonna be sub par. Jay may want to rethink letting Ye do his album.

first and only time i really liked the vocoder thing was the first time i heard it on t-pain’s I’m Sprung. even now i still like that track…my my, how times have changed lol. cant stand that shit no more, to this day thats the only tpain track i ever liked. then he was on some im in love with a stripper bullshit and i was like uggh he’s one of those douchebags.

September 8th, 2008 at 12:51 am

September 8th, 2008 at 12:51 am
I don’t what Ye was thinking when he recorded this track. He must have snorted an 8ball of that white girl before hitting the studio.

still cant get rid of the sound of kanye attempting to sing.
since when was it cool and entertaining to just have no regard for anything tasteful or artistic or original?
September 8th, 2008 at 1:01 am
This shit just solidifies Kanye’s arrogance and huge ego. I really like the song but how are you gonna close the VMA’s with a song that no ones heard before and that is that much different from what people would expect. I mean he didn’t even do other songs before or after just one take it or leave it song. That takes some balls and in my opinion he pulled it off which is surprising considering he just stood there and had some drummers behind him the whole time.

It sonds like a good song.
September 8th, 2008 at 1:28 am
Ye just made a regular song, not one that’s specifically hip-hop. maybe that’s why everyone is hating on it. As just a regular song from a regular artist, it’s not too bad. I could see this song becoming a club-banger…
I don’t condone this vocoder fukkery, although I know Ye using it because he can’t hold a note to save his life. Smh… this guy is using autotune and he still sings like Biz Markie.

OH YEA FUCK A LIL WANG AND A SWAY.
September 8th, 2008 at 1:34 am
I can’t hear the bassline. Without that, who knows. It could be a monster. Or it could be wack.
Hip-Hop lives and dies where the bassline intersects with the melody, sample and breakdown. Not where the Auto-Tune intersects with the voice.
MCs act like they don’t know.
September 8th, 2008 at 1:37 am
The beat is tight. I don’t know bout the singin. He was better off rappin.
September 8th, 2008 at 1:46 am
Sounds like he was only using cheat codes on the chorus…and I think it sounded great
People need to give these lyrics a listen before making a judgment - listen, not hear
