^Ether sounds better than saying “that was a takeover” like joke. The ether beat was better, the jokes seemed more easier to understand than in the takeover, c’mon, how many people knew about the shit on the tour bus with the large professor? It was the truth, but the average fan didn’t know WTF he was talking bout. I still think takeover was better, but like billz said ether was more epic. So it really boils down to what you look for in a diss song, jokes or reality.

Ether’s affect on the rap community changed hip hop history FOREVER. Them shits Jay did afterwards were good, but forgettable (unless you’re a Jay stan, of course). I can roll up on my predominately white campus and blast Ether and those schmucks will know every word. Ether was EPIC. The following 2 Jay disses, were not.

is it though? is it really? or is it just a result of all of the hype that surrounded that track when it dropped? everybody thought Gnoz was done, but he came back strong. then the people with simple minds were so shocked and awed that they counted Jay out, put Gnoz in the Win column and stopped listening. but what happened was, Jay came back with SU and BP2 and quietly won the battle. those simple minded folks, having already made up their minds, either ignored this fact or refused to accept that their newly annointed king had actually taken the L of his career. it’s really not any more complicated then that.
