We already had this discussion on here…Life after death is a decent album…definitely not a classic….
***It’s a classic, because it has so many classic songs on it- it shoulda been a single album, though…
____________________________________________________________
yeah but it also had a lot of wack/skippable songs too and they count…..I mean we can cut out mad songs off any rappers album and say its a classic….but we have to judge it as a whole, and unfortunately thats life.
***the classic cuts vastly outweigh the skippers, though…plus, biggie never said “life is a big mac, niggas look at me and say “you did that”??

Being complex in words has no bearance and a BIG misconception….Just because you are “lyrical” as in using complex words means nothing….Canibus is the most lyrical cat we have heard in our lifetime and the dude is trash…
Lyrics are only one part of the game….If you just got lyrics, just be a slam poet writer or something cause if you don’t have a hot flow then you need to stop rapping…So many cats think that just because they have lyrics they feel like they can rap….Rap is a performance based art form, not a written art form….
So many people are influenced by New York’s style of rap and how the source and XXL judges rappers…..

I’m not even a fan of 2pac and Big….I respect them…But people are caught up into emotional arguments and can’t see the light….I can understand why pac is the best rapper for a lot of people and I can understand why Big is the best rapper for a lot of people.

Lyrics are only one part of the game….If you just got lyrics, just be a slam poet writer or something cause if you don’t have a hot flow then you need to stop rapping…

**I think that Makavelli was Pac’s best work…and not because he passed, either…I really haven’t listened to a lot of his posthumous material…anyway, with Pac and Big, both, it’s amazing that they continue to entertain and inspire more than a decade after their deaths, at ages 25 and 24, respectively…

it’s ill how the game has changed
to get big in the game you used to have to steadily grow your name and your brand by battling/doing shows/putting out shitloads of tapes/etc. for years
both asher roth and jay electronica did their first shows EVER after being praised by blogs and semi-independent media like URB as being the next big thing
how crazy is that? to even be a MC you used to have to get your *start* on stage. like doing a acapella here or a verse there meant nothing if you couldn’t rip a crowd.
i mean you still have cats like mickey facts and donny goines who did mad shows and songs before ever getting the spotlight. but then you see asher and jay (and others) looking like they’re just happy to be holding a mic that’s plugged in and u realize how shit ain’t the same
but if you told someone 10 years ago that all you needed was a myspace page and a co-sign by some big rappers and you could be a media darling they’d say fuck outta here you gotta be on your grind for a good two to four years first, minimum
then again, everybody’s famous these days. the real test is can you really eat off of this shit. for a lot of people the answer is going to be no because like that crab ass jim jones said (even tho i never thought i’d quote dude) it’s a serious drought right now, some cats are eating super-heavily (i.e. they’re riding with a superplate and eating supercake (c) pock) or they’re just putting out music as community service, seeing small cheese here and there but mainly just trying to flood the blogs and possibly get noticed by MTV which still runs this shit top to bottom
wtv u think about it i think everyone can agree the game has utterly changed

Never see the movie beautiful laundrette….This is Brokeback Mountain before Brokeback mountain ever came out…..I had to watch one time in an English class and was appalled out some of the dudes (who were all white) were just acting like it was nothing and kept watching these two dudes kissing….I almost walked out the classroom, but the nigga was gonna test on that shit so I had to cover my eyes….
Moral of the story:….white people think gay sex is an average thing…
application to the story:…..If you black stay away from frat parties from fear of drunk white dudes start acting gay and shit.

Well Big and Jay were the pioneers of swag, it only got gay till niggas in the south constantly kept rapping about it which in turn, turned people off who listen to east coast rap. Jay was always rapping about swag….Him and big had niggas wearing versace shirts and shades…..then he had the throwback game and had people wearing yankee fitteds to cover his eye…
Swag has always been part of the game, whether niggas want to admit it or not….Now you hear “swag songs” which has made people feel weary about it now.

the best advice i can give anyone is that if you have any doubts as to lupe’s lyrical supremacy in the game, go back and listen to food and liquor
that album is like a space capsule from 2015
somebody should actually do that. buy 1,000 copies of that album bury them in a capsule and then unearth the capsule in 2015 and then hold it up against whatever dance rappers are doing or even whatever so-called lyricists are out and then see if that album doesn’t hold its own and sound like it came from that era. on a straight lyrical basis it’s very hard to make an argument that somebody takes command of beats better than wasalu, he really pwns them shits

I’m the man from Atlanta, to way out in Cali
Catch me in New York, I’m on the way to Miami
I be in Hawaii, then catch me in Paris
I be at home barely, I’ll sleep when I’m buried
What I need some sleep for? This dope got me geeked up
I went to Japan and made a mil’ in a week bruh
These niggaz can’t keep up cause they see me in London
Or out in Ibiza, that time I ain’t sleep for
Bout three days maybe, you see me in Haiti
With Wyclef Jean and a selection of ladies
But my folk got that work in like they back in the 80’s
See the money’s what move me, conversation don’t phase me
[Chorus: Wyclef Jean (T.I.)]
(Tell ‘em why cause I) Been around the worrrrrld
Traveled the seven seas (and I be)
Poppin bottles with celebrities (so you can find me)
Flyin high, smokin better trees (ay, oh-ay-ay)
Girls around the worrrrrld (yo, yo)
They keep callin me (they call me)
Paparazzi they be follow me (they all be)
Hopin that they get a shot of me
It’s my swaaaaag (they wonder what’s so special ’bout him)
(Why they ain’t sellin records like him, tell ‘em)
It’s my swaaaaag (how he always look so cool)
(That why e’rybody do what he do, tell ‘em)
Gotta be my swaaaaag (they wonder why he wear his hat like that)
(When girls see him why they act like that, ay, I don’t know)
It’s my swaaaaag (for some reason all the real niggaz love him)
(Even though they girlfriend wanna fuck him, I guess)
Gotta be my swaaaaag
