Jay-Z Denies Timbo Helmed Album

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone at the Pemberton Festival in British Columbia, Jay shot down Timbaland’s claim that he will be producing the next Hov album in its entirety.
“You know I love Timbaland, he is like a brother to me, but until the music is done it’s premature,” Jay said. “I’m a person that works off music. If Timbaland makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album, if Kanye West makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album; if he makes three, I’ll take three. I let the music dictate the direction.”

I’m with you. I was at the Miami show Hov did this year and he brought a (probably seven sheets to the wind) T. Mosley out after Big Pimpin, and he maybe did Dirt Off Your Shoulder, but I can’t think of any other Tim joints he did that were huge pop hits.
But what ARE Jig’s big ones?

Every sports fan with a laptop and no life has heard O’Neal’s freestyle rap about Kobe’s inability to win a title on his own, punctuated by Shaq’s relentless (and arguably valid) question, “Kobe, how my ass taste?” And everyone has found this material hilarious. The semi-extemporaneous lyrics also accuse Bryant of destroying Shaq’s marriage (by reportedly telling Colorado police after his arrest for sexual assault that the Big Aristotle paid women for their silence after the ends of affairs), which is slightly less funny (although probably more valid). Now, Shaq is a funny guy and a charming fellow and—most important, at least from a PR perspective—a hyper-jolly goofball who likes to give toys to sick orphans. So as a culture, we tend to take his side.
But his rap was still pretty weird. Go back and watch it again. Its only goal was to humiliate and emasculate Bryant, and it was conducted in a context that left Bryant no recourse. O’Neal knew Kobe couldn’t respond, which is why he seemed to enjoy the performance so much. If Kobe took the situation seriously and called a press conference, he would seem weak and humorless. If he tried to respond with a rap of his own, it would be an inorganic disaster: Kobe would probably try dressing like the 1981 version of Reggie Theus, hire the Neptunes and come across like a chick from Northern State (the Brooklyn hip-hop group, not the D2 Wolves from Aberdeen, S.D.).

After the jump is a statement from Kidz in the Hall’s manager.
Double O from the hip hop group Kidz In The Hall was assaulted by several bouncers early Saturday morning, July 26, while inside a nightclub in Tempe, AZ following a Kidz In The Hall performance. Group member and friend Naledge, who did not witness the assault on Double O, was arrested outside of the club. Naledge’s attempt to get medical assistance for Double O was misconstrued as a hinderence to the investigation. Reports that no injuries were sustained are false as Double O was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries from the excessive force used by club security. On Sunday morning Double O underwent surgery for one of his injuries. He is still in the hospital, but in stable condition.
In the last 2 years, Kidz In The Hall has traveled to over 10 countries, have done 200+ shows and never before been involved in any altercation, big or small, with club or concert security, or police officers.
