The Game’s Statement on “My Life”
Interscope just sent out this statement from Jayceon explaining the following line from the extended version of My Life that leaked earlier.
You see them 24’s spinning, I earned ‘em/and all the pictures of me and Em, I burned ‘em/ so there ain’t no proof that I ever walked through 8 Mile/and since there’s no Proof, I’ll never walk through 8 Mile
Game says:
When I originally wrote the song “My Life” I was trying to think back on events that affected my life and how they changed me. When I first got signed to Aftermath and G-Unit I was exposed to so many different people from Dre to Em to 50 to Proof. I always identified with Proof. We were always cool and he would reach out to me when ever I was going through something I remember when Proof died vividly and now every time I think about going to Detroit I get depressed. That is what I was trying to say in that verse and the more I looked at I realized that people would take it the wrong way…the way they are taking it now that it leaked. So I decided to change it so that this bullshit wouldn’t happen and now it’s happened anyway. For the record, this is not the version on my album, this is not the version that radio will get and this is not the version that I just shot the video to. Furthermore, I apologize to anyone who took this the wrong way as that was never my intention.

Hmm… I took that line in the sense of, “I’m not going back if Proof’s not there cuz it’ll be too painful to be there and not have my friend able to see me.”
I didn’t even know there was a potential controversy. Oh well. Still coppin’ LAX.
Also, Props to ‘Ye for doing that MTV thing. Our troops deserve better than what they’re getting, so ‘Ye coming out to show love is merely the beginning.

None of that statement explains the “All of the pictures of me and Em, I burned em” line. I hope Eminem burns a hole in him because Eminem is one million times better as an emcee than Game’s name-dropping ass. It would be even funnier if Eminem signed Ras Kass to Shady and let Ras Kass burn a hole in Game for him. LOL.

Am I overreacting or am I imagining a dis to Eminem in the lines above? I know the burning pictures and ‘there’s no proof” lines are linked, but I still think that was some kind of sneak dis on Em and a reference to him burning some kind of bridge with Eminem (who is obviously still loyal to 50). Anyone agree?

Doesn’t really seem like an outright diss, sublime or not. I doubt Game was ever close to Em except by association og G-unit/Proof.
Besides it’s corny when niggas put out subliminals they know will be picked up and then go back on their word like “nah, I ain’t mean it like that”+some phony excuse… Game or not the game is rampant with that bullshit
