I wasn’t tryna lecture him on hip hop history, or nothing like that, I was tryna tell him to use common sence, he was around when g-unit was at it’s peak, & he seen what happen to them, why would he think it couldn’t happen to wayne? Truthfully at 19 I never thought jay was gonna fall off, & I was right, he didn’t fall off, nowhere near it, but he isnt as popular as he was at his peak. (n/h)

I have this friend who is a lawyer and in the first two to three weeks of his job, he made sure to create the impression that he was a hard worker. He was the first in and the last to leave. He would not get up from his desk and didn’t take personal calls. He barely got up to use the bathroom. By the end of the first month, he started to relax, took longer lunches and what’s interesting is that no one noticed. They always attributed that initial value — hard worker — to him. He’s going on seven years and still has that reputation.

jay is popular on a different level as far as venture deals and sports related business dealings….
Basically jay is more popular now because of his philanthropy and his relationship to beyonce….jay is not as popular with his music, cause he is not really making music like he did back in the day…
It’s more of a dichotomy with jay’s popularity…he’s more Cnn/ Espn/New york times popluar….not XXl/bet/mtv popular.

^You know what I mean. When jay was at his blueprint stage/black album stage, no other rapper was even mentioned, jay was the hottest, when you need your first single to get off the ground, who you call for that guest spot? His cameo in your video would’ve made you popular. Nowadays wayne is that dude, Jay was on rhianna biggest hit, & he’s never mentioned with the song, they don’t say nothing about jay, just rhi rhi. Jay is still popular, but wayne is more popular

Eminem didn’t have the streets on lock like a biggie, wayne or Jay…..but Niggas fucked with him……the streets love for eminem was exacerbated by the college girls love for em……
It’s hard for a white rapper to just have the streets on lock…i.e. style/swag/rhymes….but he was popular and niggas fucked with his music….But we never really got to see what type of love he was getting from the streets because the mainstream had usurped it.
