Okay, well let’s say in recent contemporary times….In like the last 5 or six years…

I remember when He dropped them Joints niggas at xxl dedicated whole posts to em….Other blog sites was talking about those joints he dropped…

You don’t want to admit it but other blog sites and XXL were treating those verses like an event…But even without those recent remix verses…He has dropped some hot material…

If you feel like he is just ok…that’s fine…we all have our likes and dislikes…music is all subjective….But it seems to me like he is railroaded because he has a southern accent and never rapped like he was from new york…Which scarface sounds like he is from the east coast and east coast niggas put scarface on a pedastal (rightfully so)…But they try to always to determine who is the southern goat, because a rapper raps in the eyes of what they like.

So true….that’s why I was on my Jud Buechler rants…..New york is still mad (rightfully so)…that their baby (hip-hop)…has flew away from their nest…They feel that they dictate what should and shouldn’t go on in hip-hop music….Just face facts….Cities come and go in popularity….

Let’s look back in History…..The birth place of 90 percent of black music is in the south…..and hip-hop’s roots are from the south….Niggas was be-bopping and shoody do wopping and rapping in the south…before rap even existed…..

r&b, jazz, blues, gospel, negro spirituals….ALL black music all started from the south….Only hip-hop was created in the North…..

Southern music is more chant based….such reflects the times back then such as negro spirtuals….

Northern music will always be more intellectual written….Look at the people who migrated to the north…People went to the north to get a better life….There is a reason why the music is more lyric based….

the south has always been about dancing….which a lot of you up north niggas can’t do…it’s music is more light and fun while up north music is more serious in nature.

Yeah, when you factor the whole entity that Jay has become, there’s no question who’s the GOAT. We’re debating more on an album by album basis focusing more specifically on just the music rather than what the music acheived for the artist.

^ Cosign. I use to have a hard time (pause) debating these two albums, but over the years I have listened to Reasonable Doubt more than I do any Biggie album. I never skip a track on Reasonable Doubt as oppose to Biggie’s albums.

I can admit that albums that are considered “great” are not my particular favorite albums, I like the dynasty more than the blueprint….but I know that blueprint is better though…..

I’m a reasonable nigga. And to use your example, I think It Was Written is > but I know that’s not really the case. But that’s not what I’m doing with Life After Death. It really IS better than RD.

RD is timeless, while albums like LAD & illmatic sound dated. That’s the biggest difference in that whole debate.

LAD & illmatic remids you of what you was doing around that time, but don’t relate to your current status, while reasonable doubt puts you in a place where his lyrics relate to current events in your life

I agree. If you flip the rookie card and look at all of the stats, Jays the G.O.A.T. Going just by music Jay is up there but probably not the G.O.A.T., but definitely up there.

^I hate New York, seriously, I went up there, I was dying to come back home, the traffic sucks, no hospitality at all, the airs too thick, & people act like it’s a blessing to be from there. That’s why alot of NY niggas get killed coming down here tryna hustle, there too slick for themselfs & end up getting boxed up, but that’s another topic.
