For the record, Curtis is the one who likes to make every album release about sales rather than good music, and so rather than talk about how good/bad T.O.S. is, we’re gonna talk about how little it sold.
Billboard put’s the Unit’s first week number at 102,000, which actually isn’t bad if your name isn’t Curtis.
To put that in perspective, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, which has been in stores for four weeks, moved 156,000. That’s 54K more than the Unit after the first week hype for those of you keeping score at home.
No doubt the same Unit stans who would have spent the day counting Boo Boo’s money had he sold a millie this week, will show up shortly to tell me how I’m “hating” or explaining that Curtis did his real #’s overseas or some such nonsense.
And I mean, it’s whatever. The fact is, I don’t hate the Unit or their music. I enjoyed the shit out of that Curtis and Mr. Cee mixtape, and Return of the Bodysnatchers stayed in the whip for a good two weeks.
What I hate is this shit, and this. This too. All that extra shit is corny and if your true fans had any sense, they’d be insulted by those antics.

50 Cent and his crew put some stuff on his site about Interscope possibly sabotaging his album with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. Now, I have some source within Interscope and they gave some indication of what has transpired from within. First, from what I understand,what 50 charged is true: there was a shortage of T.O.S. albums available. A lot of stores did not even receive T.O.S. or got very few copies. Big retails stores like Best Buy did not even display T.O.S with the new releases, from what I heard.
Now, there is a complimentary layer to this. From what I hear, the big dogs at Interscope are getting tired of their inability to manage 50 Cent. He dissed them and they are tired of him speaking out against them, from what I have been told. On top of it all, they got very upset – allegedly – when the G-Unit general launched thisis50.com and started putting free music on there along with the music videos to boot.

by the way, the album is so far the best since. sheesh can’t remember but it’s definitly better than lil wayne’s album. so the numbers yeah it is what it is, but i’m glad i got the album i was looking forward to. them returning to the aggressive mixtape type material instead of catering to the standard walk on by fans (sans i like the way she do it). it’s a street new york album, something i’ve been missing for awhile from new york artists. 4/5 mics

True, but at this point I’m not convinced The Game will do much better. I don’t know if the interest will be there like it was for Documentary and Doc’s Advocate–even tho’ I think the Doctors Advocate was really fuckin’ brilliant–except for the jamie foxx song.

If Game does 100k plus, it should be considered a success.
Hmm, Game hasn’t made a blatant radio single since The Documentary. The singles off Doc’s Advocate were really good– One Blood had a lot of industry commentary, Let’s Ride went hard (pause) even tho’ the beat was accessible (and fucking amazing, by the way–props, tuff jew), and Wouldn’t Get Far was really clever.
That being said, Game’s Pain is a good, fun summer song–roll down the windows, bump, enjoy. Altho’ the title is stupid. Song doesn’t sound like he’s in pain at all.

MoneyRay is right tho’, the same people that love Weezy this year will get bored and start looking for The Next Big Thing and forget all about him. The internet fans bigged up Weezy, and the mags and TV stations went, “ooh, he’s got ‘buzz’! Let’s ride the wave!” then the people who read the mags and watch the tv stations said, “ooh, he’s the next big thing! let’s goooooo!”, and here we are today. Wayne’s played this thing very well…but he’s still an average rapper at best.
In terms of the “Rewind” factor, he’s not even in the top 20. I can’t think of one line that was dope or transcendant or classic. I can, however, think of a buncha cute little one liners and silliness.
I have the luxury of hating 50 and Weezy cuz of their mediocre talent since waayyy before it became cool, and ask the vets, I’m not a hater like that at all.

Look at Fif’s beefs…they aren’t with major players. Outside of Nas, he doesn’t really go hard at someone above his level.
