Just because he’s your favorite rapper doesn’t mean everything he say is true

^1) the main appeal for lupe isnt that hes a better person than everyone else outside of the rap game, its that his lyrics are insane. just to clear that up, this whole argument kinda doesnt even really matter, but lets just keep going.

^If it’s just about the lyrics and not their personal lives, then that makes speakin’ about a rapper’s personal life null and void.

2) how can u just make up a positive image, especially when no one would say thats what sells in a rap game where 90% of it is gun talk. and when u come up with this positive message out of thin air, why would someone stick to it? its all just fake? well then i would say thats a pretty good fake image.

^I would say the same. I’m not sayin’ he’s a not a genuinely nice guy, but he chose to do the gun raps FIRST, which is obviously where his heart is. But he knows damn well that one 1.) he’s Muslim and tryin’ to stay on his deen, and 2.) he’s gonna go with what’s more believable.

I think you forget that this is a business. Every other gun-toting artist was already known in their hood, whether they’re nice at rappin’ or not. Therefore it wasn’t hard to create a backstory for them which would appeal to that audience. Not that any of this makes a difference to me, but they (the labels) know how people think so it works in their favor. 50’s GRODT was good, but it sold more off of the hype (9 bullets and being signed to Dre/Shady) then the actual music. Lupe being a skateboarder who’s in tune with his people is a helluva lot easier to sell. Plus he’s nice.
