[...] It seemed like the whole new Nas album was going to leak yesterday after we got these two new CD quality tracks on top of the entire tracklist and production credits. I had heard “Fried Chicken” on Mark Ronson’s radio show, and I had read about “Sly Fox,” but just didn’t realize Nasir would execute the concept so perfectly. “Sly Fox” is about Fox News and the right wing media. He felt inspired to write the track after Bill O’Reilly attacked him for his violent lyrics and his decision to go perform at Virginia Tech months after a student’s violent rampage left more than 30 people dead. Nas hops on this rock inspired beat from Dead Prez’s Stic.Man to respond to these accusations and just ends up tearing Fox and Bill O’Reilly a new one. I’d like to see more rappers responding to the right wing media with tracks like this. “Fried Chicken” features production from Mark Ronson and a guest appearance from one of my other favorite veteran rappers, Busta Rhymes. Nas’ Untitled hits stores July 15th on Def Jam. Nas - Sly Fox [...]
