LF: I’m downloading this styles p freestyle CD & the thought hit me, everyone talk bout how wayne is loved because of all the music he gave away for free, but I know for a fact that styles got twice the amount of songs/freestyles & imo it’s better quality (more good than bad). I read in one of the other threads someone said wayne sold so much because of all the music he gave away, if that’s what it was styles should go double in a week, or period, so I guess that aint the full reason wayne sold so much.
He said Jay-Z “is a brilliant talent and a good guy.
“Hes serious and he cares about his art,” he added. “Thats somebody who is going to start branching out and can help shape attitudes in a real positive way.
His overall take on rap: “I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics, but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.”
He added, “It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.”

Makes alot of sense. Expect the dickheads at Fox and other “conservative” news organizations to twist these words into Obama is pro-mysogynist(sp), pro-”gangsta-rap, (what ever the hell that is) and pro-drug dealing. Watch…

i’d hate to talk about negative stuff, but what is the percentage odds you would say obama would get assassinated if he was elected?
i’d love to say it’s a 0%, but with blatant racism still rearing it’s ugly head in the media and other places, not to mention all the aryan groups that exist, it’s definitely possible.
i’d hate to talk about negative stuff, but what is the percentage odds you would say obama would get assassinated if he was elected?
^^^
In a proper world, I would say nil because that’s JUST what would be expected but in THIS society, I would expect Obama to NEVER make a speech in ANY area that could not be secured from all points (air, land, underground, toxins and the like). Of course, with the legacy of GWB, a military coup would also not be out of the question.

****I swear fo’ gawd, that shit be in the back of my mind, whenever I watch any live news coverage of ol’ boy…Hopefully, secret service will do their jobs with the requisite dilligence, and not “step aside and let shit happen”
yea i never thought about the “military coups” part of it…. But if someone wants to get you, they can get you no matter WHO you are. especially if the gummit, or those that are significant people within the gummit, could be behind it…

definitely no homo requiring statement, however i’m tired of this “no homo” shit. Law of attraction says whatever we focus on grow (*struggles not to say no h%%# *) in our lives… Now it’s legal for gay people to get married… coincidence? i think not.
Rapper Snoop Dogg recently left the recording studio, recording tracks for Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated album, Detox.
“That record is real it’s coming,” Snoop Dogg said during an interview today (June 25) on Big Boy’s Neighborhood. “You know me, I was starting to doubt it myself and then I went up in there and he played so much music for me it knocked my head off.”
Snoop Dogg confirmed the fabled, decade-long project was finished and that the Doctor was selecting tracks for the album.
“I see what he got them waiting for, it’s on and poppin,” Snoop Dogg said. “He got records, he got heat.”
Dr. Dre will also sit in the producer’s seat for Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album.
^^ You think Calvin was just high and did not realize Dre was just working on his album only? Detox? Mmmmm
What was it that made me ride with a crom the size of my arm?..i neglected Elijah Moha..said i rather die on my feet, then live like a sorvior from Nam
so i got my ipod connected to my stereo system and i set this new all borough mixtape as my wake up music yesterday night. 7:15 am this morning, guess who wakes me up. simon with his fakely deep voice.

Beanie & styles collab = would’ve been 10x better in 04 than 07

would’ve had the potential to be one of my all-time favorite albums. alas both kinda fell off in the last year, beans with his weak album and styles lost his flow accuracy.
Is this just a Lox album that they’re calling a D-Block album because of record label issues associated with using the name Lox, or is this album going to have a bunch of their hypemen on it? Please tell me its the former and not the latter…
We have waited 2 years longer for Detox after 2001 than we waited for 2001 after Chronic. I dont know if that is a good indication or or a bad one.

Hmm…interesting theory….Yea, its gone too far. I was talking to my boss the other day, said something vaguely unintentionally gay, and then said “pause” immediately after. He was bewildered. It’s happened with my mother before too. So, I feel you on that sentiment. No homo.
I remember getting this CD a week before it came out, I listen to this CD so much I broke it, I didn’t bother getting it again because I knew every word on the album, now that I Dl’d it this morning it’s a crips as it was when I first got it. “Say Hello” beat still fucking bang.
>>>i’d hate to talk about negative stuff, but what is the percentage odds you would say obama would get assassinated if he was elected?
^^^fairly high… on the one hand you have to consider that if he “disappears” it’s going to be pretty clear that it was the powers that be who do it. but what’s worse, letting a black man run the country? or having the legacy of a man who clearly ain’t done shit, be revered by this country for decades or longer to come… folks are still on the Kennedy bandwagon…
I need a better Ipod, now i’m making life or death choices on what cd do I wanna keep on the pod, yesterday I cut Eminem 3rd album, the dynasty, the nas lost tapes mixtape (not retail) life after death, & some of 2pac greatest hits

I usually agree with most of the things you say but you delusional right now lol
just because it bore the name of the movie, had 3 or 4 sound bites from the movie and came out around the time of the movie does NOT make it a concept album. A concept would have been rapping the entire album from the perspective of a character in the movie, making references to other people and places in the movie.
the whole album was spit from the perspective of Jay Z, like any other album of his
there really was nothing conceptual about the album. the movie just inspired the energy

I kind of agree with you because the Black album was better then AG but i still think his latest efforts are better then the majority shyt that gets put out…people compare hov to hov like you just did….He has very high expectations so when his joints arent flawless then his shyt is wack, niggas wont say the shyt is hot cause it has to be a classic….i guess thats the price you pay for setting such high standards for yourself…

why would you consider recording an album in 3 weeks any good, that goes to show what it is, you respect that? imagine what he could of done if he would of took his time and gave a fuck about what hes doing….
all he talk is that business shit, maybe he gon read what obama said about him and smarten up and preach some real shit to the youth….
i dont wanna hear about what hes done, dont start listing all the extra shit, im talking about in the music, what does he say in the music?

^Naw dude, he was rapping from the perspective of himself in frank situations, I say it was 50/50 cause it’s many parts of the album where you can clearly remember a part in the movie. I wasn’t just the sound bytes, pray, fallin, amercan gangster, amercan dreamin, blue magic, sweet was all was based around the movie, that’s half the album right there

classic is somthing that reaches over time, ag was dropped last year, why you even calling that a classic??
***You ain’t know? niggas are labeling ringtones as classics, these days, lol…I blame 106 and Park- their “Throwback” joints be like 2 yrs old, and shit…
Nah AG wasnt a classic but i was a hell of an album…..i dont give a fuck with ya niggas say to me the shyt was crazy…..yo digi .you know that nas and hov stopped beefing 3 years ago right? just cause nas is your dude doesnt mean you has to consistently takes shots at hov, just saying give credit when credit is due….I tip my hat to nas everytime he does his thing…
I call it a classic because for one u can play it all tha way thru..he went back 2 them soulful beats he had on RD..n 20 years from now if u pop dat n I promise it still bangs..I mean I think its a classic album..I’m still listenin 2 it 2day..tha nigga took it back 2 his roots
Black Album is better than American Gangster ( I hate internet slang and I don’t say AG)….Because Jay was still raw with it…with the flipping birds part…
Allure, My first song, Encore, PSA were all Heat rocks….
American Gangster was a little TOO polished….But I still liked it…
Jay is best when he is half introspective/ Freestyling…..
Jay dropped that Braggadocious can’t touch me swag when He released Kingdom Come…
Jay-Z can’t win for losing with some of ya’ll mofo’s, ya’ll want him to take it back to reasonable doubt days, but if he rap about coke ya’ll gonna kill him because he aint sell drugs in 10+ years, he finds a reason to rap about it & ya’ll kill him because he found a reason to rap about it by saying he faked a concept album to rap about coke. what is it? And of all of the parts of the song that I could’ve remembered, I don’t know WHY the excerpt of him talkin’ to a random ninja in the booth stood out the most. Honestly, even though you probably remember the song as vividly, or even more, than me, I still didn’t expect somebody to guess that right away. Props on that.

^ *channels his younger days at the ice cream truck*
Those double-time rhymes he was doing with Lamont on freestyles… ummm…. some call-and-response tracks… and er… uh… let me hear some over-the-top metaphors. Yeah, that’s it.
Jay as a Brash Coke misogynist> Jay as an introspective non-writer….
When Jay spits that raw shit…i.e. Hop up on her good foot….Dropping broads off with the du-rag….that’s when he is at his best…..
He’s missing that street swag that he used to carry….back then he could of just mumbled on a track and it would have sounded hot….But like He said he can’t rap like that no more….He has too many people (corporate america) watching him so he can’t be raw like he used too….
Ex. What we do verse…..It wasn’t so much as the lyrics and flow…But his whole style/swagger just ripped the song up….
Ex. 2…Do it again verse….One of his best verses….I mean the nigga was straight cocky with that shit….”Bout as blue as the sea when I maneuver the v”….”Fuck the flow niggas is jacking our slang”……Heat boulders

lol….but if he screams the word young then niggas say hes 42 but if he brags about being older then everyone he lost but i respect your opinion tho
Stillmatic isnt a classic, but it’s 4.7 out of 5. Any album with “braveheart party” on it can’t be a classic, the song smoking is wack juice too, but the good songs on stillmatic is so good it make most call it a classic.
AG rocks all the way thru, tell me i’m wrong. I remember the first time I heard it, I was calling everyone like “IN YO FACE NIGGA, IN YO FACE!!!! I told ya’ll jay still got it” most of my peers called it a wrap after KC, so you know I was throwing it all in there face, & they couldn’t deny it
Personally I wasn’t really feelin tha black album like dat..I mean it had a couple tracks I fucked wit but as an album as a whole..I jus thought it was iight

You acting like we should be grateful that He “gave” us Kingdom Come….The dude is an entertainer and sells records…He doesn’t “give” anybody anything….If the shit aint hot it aint hot fam
Kingdom come was not good at all…..Based on the fact that he was the savior of Hip-hop…..He doesn’t have to give us anything….
Rap is like ball….jay can’t dunk no more or straight posterize cats…now he’s shooting the fadeaways and hitting the outside jumpers..
wrap after KC,

The Royals? nah but i liked KG better then AG…..Songs like Minority Report, Beach Chair, The prelude, Lost ones, Dig a Hole…..well nuff said….like is aid before if he would of talked about selling drugs then he woud have been fake but when he keeps it funky then its not kool to niggas…..cant win
why can’t jay just make good songs? kingdom come didn’t have many well thought out songs. this is the guy that made great songs like d’evils or even lesser known gems like ballad of fallen soldier off bp2…dude can make solid joints, he just goes with the fluff…i also hate how he never fully goes in on some of the ridiculous bangers just gave him…that’s why wayne outrapped him on show me what ya got…old jay used to give the lyrics fiends at least *something* to go crazy for…there was one song he had…wasit ‘the bounce’ produced by timbo? first two verses were radio fluff but the third verse was MONSTROUS classic jay…i might have to hook up a best of iceberg slim cd with jay’s best verses blended together…

I read in one of the other threads someone said wayne sold so much because of all the music he gave away, if that’s what it was styles should go double in a week, or period, so I guess that aint the full reason wayne sold so much.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:05 am
higher quality music means lower sales(in most cases). fans don’t know what to buy these days.

Barack Obama in Rolling Stone, this week:
He said Jay-Z “is a brilliant talent and a good guy.
“Hes serious and he cares about his art,” he added. “Thats somebody who is going to start branching out and can help shape attitudes in a real positive way.
His overall take on rap: “I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics, but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.”
He added, “It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.”

i’d hate to talk about negative stuff, but what is the percentage odds you would say obama would get assassinated if he was elected?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:50 am
i’d love to say it’s a 0%, but with blatant racism still rearing it’s ugly head in the media and other places, not to mention all the aryan groups that exist, it’s definitely possible.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:51 am
i’d hate to talk about negative stuff, but what is the percentage odds you would say obama would get assassinated if he was elected?
But to answer your question: 50/50.

AHH:
Detox? Mmmmm

AG was incredible for a 38 year old man to put together in 3 weeks when he dont even care about a rap anymore….i applaud him for reinventing himself one more time…IMO
^^^ I don’t suppose I can hate on him for making as much as he has off of 3 weeks worth of work, but still it pales in comparison to the Black Album, which I would have loved for him to just stay gone with… if he really doesn’t care about rap like that then he should stop rapping…

The album had a 70’s theme to it and he took many parts right out of the movie and talked about in on the majority of his songs, I interpreted it as a theme album…

do you got that mixtape that styles song was on?
@Rigz
The whole album wasn’t about coke, & it was a concept album (imo) majority of the album was based around the movie, matter of fact, every song prolly except “I know” & “Ignorant shit” was based on the movie. Yeah it was a reason for him to talk about coke, but the concept spawned around the movie, making it a concept album
^^^^
I usually agree with most of the things you say but you delusional right now lol
just because it bore the name of the movie, had 3 or 4 sound bites from the movie and came out around the time of the movie does NOT make it a concept album. A concept would have been rapping the entire album from the perspective of a character in the movie, making references to other people and places in the movie.
the whole album was spit from the perspective of Jay Z, like any other album of his
there really was nothing conceptual about the album. the movie just inspired the energy

I wasn’t just the sound bytes, pray, fallin, amercan gangster, amercan dreamin, blue magic, sweet was all was based around the movie, that’s half the album right there
