@Dem and Lo and esk
Yo, I’ve been trying to build a website recently… however I don’t know any coding. I was messing w BlueVoda, but I realized its just a cut and paste website builder and I can’t specify any technical functions I may want for my page. My boy told me to fuck w wordpress and get page w wordpress and their own templates until I learn more code… but I don’t want a yadayada@wordpress.com website. Any suggestions of how I can learn enough basic code to get off the ground??

>>>yep i try to stay with the front end work, but i fuck with PHP/MySQL enough, like you said, to be dangerous. i don’t fuck with any other backend (nh) languages.
^^^I’ve never really had to get into PHP… I did some edits to a project with it once and learned some basics, but I don’t know much about it…
I’m really trying to learn asp.NET… the stuff you can do with it is insane… I need to find somekind of intense week long course or something where they keep in class for 10 hours a day and teach you all that stuff…

@Nanyanen – if I’m not mistaken you can buy a domain name and just have it point to your wordpress site… I’m pretty sure that’s how this site and alumnah and a bunch of others work…
June 25th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
That shit hot. True hip hop.

^ i suggest you buy a domain and some hosting space, download wordpress from wordpress.com and do a lot of reading, research and experimenting.
or hire me.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
^I see what you’re saying. I’ll look into it.
Know any good sites for learning basics, though?? I have no cash for any type of class or books… yeah, Im classy.

Nahright was around before them wordpress.com sites.
Nanyanen, just register your domain and go to any decent host and buy a hosting package for like 10 bucks a month. they’ll have an option that will let you install wordpress with one or two clicks. do that and then you can fully customize your template/site.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
alumnah is based on wordpress with a lot of custom edits.

aight bet. thanks for the advice.

@Dem – I copped it when it came out, and I didn’t even know they were coming out with an album… it doesn’t sound anything like the old stuff from 10 years ago… I mean Beth still sounds all sultry and melancholy and what not, but all the music is live instrumentation, and it doesn’t sound like they still have the DJ, who in my opinion is the one who made their old shit so memorable… the same way you would memorize Preemo’s cuts, I’d get stuck on the cuts on their old tracks… duke might actually still be the producer, just not cuttin’, I’m not a stan like that tho….
^ translation: they fell off.

^^^ yeah… I’m actually in between the college thing now.. I finished up my BA a little while back… I’m just focused on paying off these school loans… sallie mae got some big hands… greedy bitch…
but yeah, multiple grinds will keep you a float when everything else around you is sinking… I learned that the hard way (niet) back when the .com’s died… I also do graphics (web/print/etc.) but not as much and usually to augment the web work I do… I started out doing full cycle websites (code+design+flash) out of necessity, and it’s really been a saving grace…
