Common: “Dear Summer…”

Summer = Not So Invincible After All
According to Thatshiphop.com, Common’s newest seasonally titled project has been pushed back…to the Fall.
Common’s upcoming E-P, Invincible Summer, has been pushed back to a tentative release date of September 23rd. He tells us, “You can expect some fresh music that you’ve never heard from Common before…definitely a new sound. The inspiration came from me being out at them clubs. I said I want people to feel my music in that way… Not only do they know Common as this conscious artist who brings thoughtful lyrics, but we can dance to some of his music, too, and just smile and let go of our problems.”
It seems to me like that defeats the whole purpose of the album, no? In April, Lonnie told Billboard, “I created this music for the summer time, it’s about feeling good.” I haven’t heard anything off IS except Universal Mind Control, but I felt like I had a good idea of where he was trying to go with this album, and I was looking forward to hearing it during the hazy summer months. I’m not sure that all that feel good shit is going to have the same impact in October.

Three Central Florida deputies are being reprimanded after an officer was bitten and hospitalized by an 8-foot alligator.
Deputy Keith Baughman, 39, responded to calls of a large alligator loose in the parking lot of the Brightside Apartments located on Caribbean Street in May.
Baughman and other deputies found the alligator roaming the area.
Witnesses said the deputy threw a towel on the alligator, jumped on its back and tried to wrestle it. Baughman was thrown off the back and then bitten, witnesses said.
“His pants ripped up and blood was gushing out and everything,” witness Carlos Martinez said. “He started limping away and the alligator was laughing at him. The dude then shot it twice in the head.”
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said a second officer, Deputy Jason Stickles, 27, shot the alligator repeatedly.
“I said, ‘Don’t shoot it,’” witness Jasmin Harris said. “Just wait until the animal people come out. I don’t know why they shot it in the first place. They shouldn’t have jumped on it. That wasn’t their job.”

[...] Text jacked straight from Eskay & he will never know, ahahahahhhahahahahahhh…ha…..cough..ha-cough…*whistle*: No I.D. took time to chime in about Common (Sense’s )Demo Tape, and also mention that he and Kanye West will be producing Common’s album coming in 2009. Although Universal Mind Control hasn’t even dropped yet, this adds much anticipation to Common’s future project as G.O.O.D. Music will be in full effect again. Kanye West & No I.D. were recently working on Jay-Z’s next and last Def Jam release, Blueprint 3, and although Kanye was mostly unavailable, due to the tour, to produce for Common on this album, The Neptunes had to step in for production. The world is still waiting to hear how they plan on following up 2007’s Finding Forever & 2005’s Be. No I.D., who Kanye calls his mentor, produced much of Common Sense’s classic Resurrection, and last produced for Common on One Day It’ll Make Sense. [...]
