I’m not on no hypebeast type ish, but I think this new album is going to be classic. Nas is from another planet and not on no Andre 3000 tip. On a lyrical conscience type shit he’s hot. I doubted this album, but I think its going to be hot.
the song really needed a visual to get it’s point

i doubt that he cares! Nas 1st single(video) of every album has ALWAYS been a street record! he’s probably the only RELEVANT artist that doesn’t go SAFE, while other artists will put out a party record as a first single (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.) to guarantee 1st week sales.
I think he could have gone deeper with the imagery.

I really thought they would do more with this. I’ve seen videos with KKK and lynching and all that before. I thought the video was going to be more along the lines of what it is to be a black person is America today. I guess I expected some sort of narrative. Overall, it’s cool. But not worth the hype. They acted like this shit was a movie or something.

Naa. You took it too far homie. As much as I, personally, would have loved to see stacks and stacks of Nigger CDs, promotional stickers, and posters, if at the end of the day, the real message(s) get lost in the hype of name, it’s not worth it.
I was doubting this album, thought it was gunna be a shock value title. But if the albums the same quality of that nigger tape and rawness of this video (that hanging was graphic, i thought they were going to cut to a different scene then see dude dead later) then i think we’re in for something ILL

A 10-year-old South Carolina boy has died several hours after he swallowed water in a swimming pool.
Goose Creek police say Johnny Jackson swallowed some water while swimming around noon Sunday.
Police say he later complained he was tired and took a nap. When someone checked on him, water was coming out of his nose and he was having trouble breathing.
The boy later died at Trident Hospital.
Berkeley County Coroner Glenn Rhoad told the Post and Courier of Charleston the boy’s lungs were filled with water and he died of asphyxiation.
Rhoad said there was nothing suspicious about the death.

I think he blew it. They were trying to draw a parallel between how blacks were treated during slavery and how we treat ourselves and how others treat us now, BUT the point was barely driven home. As someone else stated, there was no narrative. If Nas wanted to make a point he had MONTHS to think of a hard-hitting video concept to go along with the song….it says in conjunction with The Jones Experience, so Nas clearly had input…so he chooses a Filipino director to portray the black experience and fails incredibly. this is a total failure…
The first part with Nas rapping over the piano is the best part of the video. The outro rapping is the second best part. The actual song the video is based around is the weakest aspect here.
The damn director showed his name and production company more than Nas’. I love Nas but he should have gotten a real director to do that shit. Cordero is no better than that smack dvd whack ass bullshit!

A 10-year-old South Carolina boy has died several hours after he swallowed water in a swimming pool.
Goose Creek police say Johnny Jackson swallowed some water while swimming around noon Sunday.
Police say he later complained he was tired and took a nap. When someone checked on him, water was coming out of his nose and he was having trouble breathing.
The boy later died at Trident Hospital.
Berkeley County Coroner Glenn Rhoad told the Post and Courier of Charleston the boy’s lungs were filled with water and he died of asphyxiation.
Rhoad said there was nothing suspicious about the death.

I think he blew it. They were trying to draw a parallel between how blacks were treated during slavery and how we treat ourselves and how others treat us now, BUT the point was barely driven home. As someone else stated, there was no narrative. If Nas wanted to make a point he had MONTHS to think of a hard-hitting video concept to go along with the song….it says in conjunction with The Jones Experience, so Nas clearly had input…so he chooses a Filipino director to portray the black experience and fails incredibly. this is a total failure…
The first part with Nas rapping over the piano is the best part of the video. The outro rapping is the second best part. The actual song the video is based around is the weakest aspect here.
