    ^Besides the swiping of DC chicks, our cultures clash tremendously. On a street level, they didn’t like people outside of their hometown going down there to push drugs (which goes for NYC as well). It was a big tri-fecta of hate with B’more/DC/NYC on that level, which was mostly back in the day. On a culture level, it’s just been a constant battle of who wants to be the flagship city in the MidAtlantic region. From that came beefs about detailed differences: the music (go-go vs. club), the dress (everybody on the East back when was rockin’ baggy with whatever label was popular and they were on some slim/regular fit and mostly rocked clothes by local brands, i.e. Mchunu, HOBO, etc), dialect, mentality, dances (laugh, but it’s true) and just our ways of life in general. They always tried to pin the “fake NewYorker” tags on us because of the way we dressed back then, music, slang etc. But in actuality, Baltimore is a trend-humpin’ city which is why we’re still stuck between people here catering more towards down-south music and others still major East coast fans. With us, we’ve mostly been a uncouthed version of whatever the climate of the East Coast is at that moment, along with Down South shit, i.e. the moniker The Dirty North that some journalists have pinned us with. As for DC, we always thought they were some off-brands because their style was nothin’ like that of East Coast culture (Philly, Jerz, NYC, Boston, etc). They rocked slouch socks, hooded denim vests, jeans with rubber bands at the bottom, Harley Davidson, Looney Tunes, etc. Don’t get me wrong, you have others in the city that fall in line with the East Coast regimen, but the predominate culture was mostly what I aforementioned. We think they talk funny (as they do us), weird slang, etc. All of which they think about us. This starts beefs at clubs, colleges, and other functions where numerous Black people from both areas attend (mostly Baltimoreans in DC, they never come up here). Since as long as I can remember (early 90′s), it has always been that way. It’s unfortunate that we don’t get along (especially as Black people), but that’s just the way it is. Of course, I’m always down for some harmless jokes and clowning (me vs. iCon), but never to the point of seriousness or altercation. Hopefully it has gotten better over time but the rivalry and bitterness will always be there, so it seems.

    LF: I never heard of NOE before the Byrdgang affiliation, though I remember those awkwardly soundin’ joints he did over Jay beats. Smh

    … you need to listen to more Joe Budden, that comment reaks of someone who hasn’t listened to a lot of his music, Ransom sounds exactly the same on every song Budden has much more well rounded catalogue, Ransom does nothing but spit, Budden switches his flow/topics and everything a lot and definitely more than never which is how much ransom does …..

    I listened to a lot of Buddens……….and the fact the he’s monotonous on the mic is his own fault….prolly due to his own personality…….when joe buddens switches up his flow, its that same breakdown liking to pump it up…..or he’ll go into that deep voice and draw out his words, but its the same everytime…..
