Curtis’ L.I. Home Burns To The Ground

Friday, May 30th, 2008

curtis-house-fire.jpg

Yo, let me find out Curtis tried to burn down a house with his son and baby’s moms inside. The Long Island McMansion at the center of his and Shaniqua’s legal battle burned to the ground early this morning. Fire officials are calling the blaze “definitely suspicious.”

An eyewitness told Newsday that among the injured, all of whom suffered smoke inhalation according to fire officials, were 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, and their 10-year-old son, Marquise.

“She was all right,” eyewitness Frank Hoyte, a Newsday employee, said, adding: “But she was angry.”

He said Tompkins was standing outside the home barefoot as it burned, wearing a bathrobe. Two young boys, one of them Marquise, two teenage girls and “an older woman” were also standing with Tompkins, Hoyte said.

Wow. All jokes aside, it’s good that nobody was seriously hurt. I wonder if Shaniqua tried to pull a Lisa Lopes or what.

Another Busta Rhymes Bodyguard Murdered

Friday, May 30th, 2008

busta-4-9.jpg

AHH is reporting that another man who worked as a bodyguard for Busta was found shot to death in Queens on Wednesday.

A man who worked security for rapper Busta Rhymes was shot multiple times and found dead in the back of his pickup truck on Wednesday (May 28th), AllHipHop.com has learned.

Jermaine Williams, 35, of the Bronx, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in Ozone Park, Queens.

Police found blood dripping from the backseat of his SUV when they discovered Williams’ body, which was wrapped in a blanket in the backseat of the SUV.

It doesn’t sound likely that it had anything to do with Busta, who is overseas at the moment, but damn, that’s crazy.

Mic Terror – Detention (Mazzi Dis)

Friday, May 30th, 2008

So I met Mazzi last night at the Nas screening. Turns out my man has known him for like 10 years. It’s a tiny world. I haven’t listened to this yet, but I don’t know what dude is going to say that’s going to nullify that phone call.

I’m A Nigger Too

Who needs pricey marketing campaigns when we have Photoshop?

I got back from the screening of the new Nas video for “Be A Nigger Too” a while ago, but I had 3 hours of Lost to watch and that > this. The video is amazing, but I’m not sure it’s going to have the same impact in a small Youtube OnSMASH window as it did on a big theater screen. Nevertheless, Rik and Three/21 did a great job and I feel like it goes really well with the song.

That art up there may or may not be the cover. It was on display at the screening and I suppose it would fit with a description Nas gave when asked about the album’s title. He said that it’s going to be untitled, but the cover art will convey the word “Nigger” without the presence of the actual text. I can’t imagine that they’d hold out on the video much longer now that a couple of rooms full of big mouthed media people have seen it, so expect it to drop soon.

Anybody Wanna Go Half on Pac’s Catalog?

Suge stays losing. A judge has ordered that the remainder of Death Row Records assets be put up for auction on June 24. The opening bid is $24 million. That includes all of Pac, Dre and Snoop’s work during the years they were there and a whole bunch of other interesting shit. I wonder if Greg the Barber would want to get in on this?
