II Trill Lands at No. 2

I just wanted to take a quick minute and congratulate Bun on II Trill‘s first week sales of 98,000 units and #2 spot on the Billboard Top 200. That’s slightly less than Trill sold its first week out, but alot has changed since ’05 and 98K is no small feat in this new age of Rapidshare and Bittorrent. I know it’s gotta be a bittersweet victory without your main man there to celebrate with you, but I can’t think of any MC in the game more deserving of that commercial success. I’m sure anybody whose ever had the pleasure of dealing with the big homey on a personal level will say the same.

Mannie’s like the down south RZA. a string of classic crew albums produced entirely by him and hasnt made anything signifigant since said crew dissipated.
With that said, I co-sign Mannie>Swizz. (Has Swizz produced any classics top to bottom?) Nope.

Props to Bun-B … much deserved.

I’m relieved, I was thinking his first week sales wouldnt top 60 considering the state of things. Just missing 100 is damn good. Damn good.

May 28th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
I always thought Mannie Fresh was the worst thing to happen to Hip-Hop during the 90′s, but the Top Back beat singlehandedly changed my mind and made me go back and reconsider. Mannie is also another really cool motherfucker, so I can’t hate that man.

a a a a a alchemist
May 28th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I was thinking yesterday that Alchemist has built himself a crazy catalogue…and he’s got a lot of real underground joints that people have slept on. He did a lot of production on 12″ releases in the late nineties that were “backpack” crowd anthems… a lot of that shit never got released on albums but those beats are definitely >
May 28th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
mannies catalog is more commercial and is bigger (none) but alchemist beats are always classic east coast grimyness so imo alchemist>mannie

^There 2 totally different producers, it depends on what you like best, laid back beats, or uptempo, loud bass, claps etc beats.
I would choose a beat from manny for the single, & dedicate a song to my moms over the alchemist beat. See what i’m saying?

Yeah Joe…I feel that…
I’ve got a lot of 12″ in my stash [ll] with Alchemist production…he gave some crazy beats to real underground cats (TWINS, Agallah, High & Mighty, Tragedy, Buc Fifty, etc.)…some might say they went to waste
May 28th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
… manny ramirez’s cleats > mannie fresh’s beats …
