Remy Ma Sentenced to 8 Years
Damn Rem.
NEW YORK – Remy Ma’s wedding plans are up in the air. But a judge has made definite plans for the Grammy-nominated rapper: eight years in prison for shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub.
The state Supreme Court sentence was handed Tuesday to the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion.
The defendant, who could have faced up to 25 years in prison, was teary-eyed as she heard the sentence. She says the shooting last summer was an accident; an appeal is planned.
After the sentencing, a man identified by court officers as Remy Ma’s fiance, fellow rapper Papoose, began screaming in a hallway outside the courtroom. “All you want is money!” he said, apparently referring to the victim.
“Lock me up! Lock me up!” he then shouted to court officers, who instead escorted him to an elevator and out of the courthouse.

I enjoy some rock music, but even the artists that I don’t enjoy, I give some amount of respect (as long as their not completely talentless). but rap artists have never and will never enjoy that same level of respect from rock artists/fans.
like I said, I don’t think Jay should’ve agreed to play the festival, and I think he should have backed out after the U.KKK started showing their ass, but he didn’t, so, motherfuckers need to deal with it. nobody on my block listens to Rage Against the Machine, but I didn’t hear anybody complaining when they played Rock The Bells last year or whenever.

But I have to disagree on the ‘racist’ issue. I don’t like Jungle or D&B too much. That’s a black music right there (born and bred in my town). So, if I went to a Hip Hop show every year, had seen the gods Kool G, KRS and Kane the past three years, and then I heard and Roni Size and Goldie were headlining, I’d be aggrieved. I’d say “that doesn’t sit right at this show”.
Isn’t that what it is? Maybe I’m a “glass half full” type, or maybe the UK doesn’t have such a volatile race issue. (Before ninja’s attack a brother, of course we have racists and race issues here and there’s an argument that Brits made an art-form out racism itself, and yes, some of our Muslim brothers would love to detonate a device on my tube train so it ain’t all peachy, but you dudes have it worse than we do on the day to day from what I can tell).

Music is so compartmentalised in the UK, cross genre shit rarely works.
Acts from the US that made it with the rock crowd here are few and far between. House of Pain, Wu, Cypress Hill and not many more.
I fucking hate country music. Too much stonwash denim and dudes with minor deformities due to inter-breeding. If any of those dudes played Rock The Bells, the shit would fly.

i knew remy was going to jail for awhile. these rappers keep doing things and not giving a damn about anyone else. 5-O is tired of rich black people getting away with crimes. black people need to understand, you can not do what police do(sean bell) and get off. you can not do what white folks do and get off.

I know I’m not the first person prolly to say this….but 8 years?
Given what normaly happens to us, she should be thankful she only got 8 years, and will get out at a respectable age (34), if not earlier for the aformentioned good behavior.
The incident might have well been a acident, but she lost all hope of playing that angle when she fled the scene.

I just dont understand Papoose. He feels as though his wife to be should get away with pulling a gun out and shooting someone. Is he on crack! She did the crime now do the time point blank, I mean what money does Remy have? Then he wants to make a song about the Sean Bell verdict I mean tell that dumb nigga to pick is poison already.
All I know is if that was my sister, aunt, mother or any female in my family that got shot I would feel disrespected by Papoose’s outburst.

I think this is an injustice for remy ma. Remy ma was protecting her money. cuz her friend didnt want to give the money back. She goes to jail, but the cops that kill sean bell in queens dont go to jail. This is injustice! Remy did what she had to do. So, I am for remy. and she should be out let free!
