@ chea – I listened to thug motivation all the way through I was very uninspired he had like 3 or 4 good catchy songs but it was all style no substance, thats not a good look and no he wasn’t the first to come in and have a good flow without saying shit
Jeezy is an avg. at best rapper anyway you look at it and thats looking at it 100 % objectively not even taking my lyrical snobery into account

Jeezy introduces some poetic elements that have been missing from rap for almost a decade. Internal rhymes, enjambment, etc. Homeboy is not trash LYRICALLY (even though it’s not as fun to listen to as, say, the smoothly connecting rhymes of Jay Electronica) but his content is pretty average.

I really don’t see how people can say Jeezy didn’t change the climate of the game, if you got a buch of mini me’s running around, your impact had to be felt (n/h), if you got niggas jacking you style (ad-libs) you made an impact. Ya’ll might think his impact wasn’t good for the game, so ya’ll take away his acheivements, but good or bad, it change something in rap

… when I copped thug motivation hoping it would be dope on the strength of go crazy, there was like 3 other songs I could fuck with the rest made my head hurt, and once again a rapper does not get credit for the beats the producer does, good beat selection means something but it doesn’t make one a better rapper it just hides his flaws ……

Having a great album doesn’t automatically mean that an artist has changed the game. It just means that it was a solid project. Changing the game is at a level that touches everyone, not just one region or a small minority. For example when Dre dropped The Chronic album, everyone was trying to duplicate his sound. Record labels across the country were looking for the rappers that had that westcoast flava…
Jeezy is good at what he does, but him changing the game is reaching. I mean I know people that have never heard his album and probably wouldn’t listen if I dubbed it for free. Jeezy’s music hasn’t crossed enough barriers to make the type of impact that some of you think he has. Jeezy reminds me of a modern day Kool G Rap actually…

^^Probably so, I mean the rap game is the land of theives. Why come up with new ideas when I can steal yours, right? Comparing an artist like Dre’s impact to Jeezy’s is two different categories. Dre is a pioneer that has made songs that will still be played decades from now. Not saying that Jeezy won’t one day have similiar success, but as of today he’s still growing as an artist. Give the dude time to put out some work before you start crowning him the new king of game changing…
The reality is that everybody doesn’t like everything, and that takes nothing away from the artists or project itself, it just means that we have different taste in music. I can list you several great jazz albums, but if you don’t like jazz music then it will probably sound like trash to you. Same goes for certain rap albums too…
