I HOPE THIS IS THE SAME SITUATION WITH “AMERICAN GANGSTER”.

AS IN, YOU DON’T SEE THE TRUE MEANING OF THE SONG UNTIL YOU HEAR THE ENTIRE ALBUM.

BECAUSE I EXPECTED MORE THAN THIS KIND OF LYRICAL CONTENT.

EITHER WAY, I’M NOT REALLY FEELING IT AND I HOPE THIS “NIGGER” ALBUM IS WAY MORE COMPLEX THAN WHAT I JUST HEARD OR I WILL BE GREATLY DISAPPOINTED.

This song would have been 5x more powerfull if they sampled the original commercial, which is so uppity, goofy sounding with people singing, harmonicas, etc. Check it:

And, just my opinion, Nas doesn’t sound like himself on the first verse. In fact, he almost sounds a bit like Kool Keith to me. It isn’t until he starts being braggadocious that he begins to sound like himself.
