I thought I Am… was a solid album. A strong 4 mic, XL rating, or whatever. Good beats & always-excellent Mic skills. I still spin Undying Love frequently, Nas Is Like, a lot of that shit, on a regular basis.
But the beats on Nastradamus were so bad they made me feel unwell. I had to take a week off work afterwards. Son’s “ear for a beat” has been less than consistent ever since. Hov can pick a bullshit track too, don’t get me wrong, but he’s had Ye and Just to carry him through. Salaam held Nasir down but…

also, when i was riding on the subway, i looked at everyone on the train just riding to work and i was thinking why are people so afraid to talk to each other. its because of these fear mongers, they don’t want people communicating. because once people start communicating, ppl revolution that shit up. i was about to get up and start saying it on the train, but im not at that level yet.

I dont think Dilla did any of the beats…He was getting all the producers he respected to produce his solo LP…
He had Kanye, Madlib, Pete Rock, Preemo, Nottz & some others do beats for him…
The album got shelved when MCA folded, but these tracks are fuckin HITS man.

^ohh shit i spent my entier weekend watch shit like that and reading noam chomsky, ill try to find the link to one of his essays about how the education system is put in place to make everyone obedient workers…he tells a story of how his friend would get a C in class, the teachers didnt care, but as soon as he came 3 minutes late, he got sent to detention….ive always felt that way, i was happy he wrote about that. and today i woke up and was like FOCK im sick of being a slave, this isnt natural waking up this early…i was seriosuly pissed off….and then on the subway, i was like wait i should snap outta this i got finals coming up. lol. mann, shit needs to change.

^^^they would have looked at you like a kook and potentially stomped you out depending on which train line you were on/location… but you’re right, it does need to happen more often… I think people don’t talk on the train so much tho because mofos are half asleep/trying to get that last bit of quiet time/rest before hittin’ the plantation…
