word M-roc if the cat would have been like ‘I listened to that fat joe its weak’ I might give him some credence but talking about sales as to point out an artists validity is definetly for the birds. Word To Blu less than 20k sold
Considering what the SONG’s about, I would have thought would make this video mopre street orientated a la:
Cream, Can It Be, Incarcerated Scarfaces, etc.
Its fucked up how now the Kung-Fu shit is the be all & end all of Wu’s being. When they first came out, it was more of a sidenote…They were more road orientated
And where’s Meth, Rae & Ghost AKA THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY RAP ON THE SONG?!?!?!?!?
Yo is that Guilty Simpson jawn, good? Like I have alot of music and I get lost cuz I stick to the same shit that moves me, but if it has any heatseekers I will listen
====
I was just gonna ask you if you checked it. Production is top notch…Mr. Porter, Dilla, Black Milk, Oh No. If you like Guilty’s style/delivery you’ll find some heaters on it. There’s a track with Sean Price on it that thumps!

Soundscans have always been important. Going platinum is just as important as an NBA star having a champion ship ring. you cant call youself one of the greats without at least one. Otherwise you are just Joe Buddens Charles Barkley
from what i see, truly gettin rich via rap is to get known as a rapper, then use that to get relationships with people to do INNOVATIVE business moves, not clothing lines, vodka’s and sneakers.
That’s what happened to Ross during his rookie year, when Mikki Moore, then a Clippers teammate, engaged Bryant in a verbal duel from afar. Why, thought Ross, is Moore egging Bryant on?
Bryant scored 37 points in 45 minutes. Ross went scoreless.
“Who wants to get involved like that?” Ross said. “He doesn’t say much out there, but if you get under his skin, he’ll start talking to you.”
Even Boston Celtics guard Sam Cassell, one of the biggest talkers in the game, agreed.
“He’s too mentally strong for that,” Cassell said. “He gets the ball too much. How can you talk to a guy who gets 30 attempts? Even if he only makes 12, he’s going to get to the free-throw line 14 times.
“Nobody can guard Kobe Bryant one-on-one. Kobe got that [Michael] Jordan in him. I saw Kobe make a shot against Phoenix, he got the ball, he went right, pumped the ball three times, shot it. Wop. You can’t talk when someone can do that.”
Which naturally brings the question: Could Bryant guard Bryant?
“This season’s more difficult than ever if I had to guard myself,” Bryant said. “In the past, I’d try to just run traps and double me and get the ball out of my hands ASAP. Now, you’ve got to pick your poison a little bit because we have so many great shooters and we can finish it down low [with Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum or Lamar Odom]. You just try to contest [me], make every shot a difficult one and try to deny the ball as much as you possibly can.”
And would it be a tough task?
“I would think so,” Bryant said, smiling. “I would hope so.”

i agree. it’s like “does anybody notice that this dude can’t rap?” it’s all about catchy hooks and bangin beats. ANYbody could’ve made that song. All you need to do is get a catchy hook, beat, and then follow it right up with a remix with 2-5 rappers that are hot right now.

True there is lack of balance, but this is a somewhat capitalistic society, and the music reflects it.
It’s a survival of the fittest mode in the hip-hop industry. there is no such thing as balance in music. Music is not regulated. So the owners take all the profit and surplus value they can out of a commodity till it runs out.
Music is big busines.
Music is De-regulated
Music is marktet driven
music is capitalistic

So Ja rule songs weren’t played in the strip club? 112 is an r&b group and strippers dance to r&b music. Mobb deep is an east coast thing, just like a good mobb group.
I get what you’re saying but you’re naming people that only reside in New York? wasn’t that a dominant form of hip-hop back then?
Isn’t the music that you liked when you were 15-25, the likliest of music that you will be listening too throughout most of your years?
What new and fresh artist comes out when they are 30? So of course the music is not going to be the same.
That rick ross album is okay…of course the beats are pretty good.
I liked Speedin’, We Shinin’, Maybach Music, Billionaire, Im Only Human…
bout it for me.

Nah Fux…you would think that GZA is so wack from what all these cornballs on here talk about, but I showed up at 9:15 and the show was sold out. There was at least 50 – 100 people just milling around trying to find a ticket to get in. Shit was crazy…GZA is definitely not in Alaska right now

That excerpt came from the movie “Shaolin vs. Llama”
yeah not ever a good look, somethings are just meant for that particular person to wear i.e. juelz’s bandanas, nelly’s bandaid, mobb deep’s bummy pimp look, kid and play’s high top fade’s.
Nah Sun, I never thought I would see the day when little niggas question the relevance of the WU. Es, what the fucks the world coming to?
How can you question the relevance of the purple tape; the 36 Chambers?
We can trade places, get lifted in the stair cases . . . GTFOH that shit is an all time classic.
Where were you the 1st time you heard Glaciers of Ice?

As in, if you DON’T have a tittybar/club record then you DON’T even make it to the shelves (signed to a major) unless your mans is CEO (c) Beans & Free
^^^
I dont think thats true though…You just have to have a song that actually CONNECTS with the public…Something they WANT to sing along to…Look at that “Independant†song…
Alot of dudes just preach to the choir, then get suprised when their fanbase NEVER expands. They’re bascially spitting just to please the people that know them already. Which is cool. Just dont complain, because you know what you’re doing.
You can put your message on a “club†beat. Why not? I’d love to hear that…Why does everyone with something to say fit the same “incense†stereotype?
BECAUSE THEY’RE FAKE SNOBS, YEARNING FOR EXCEPTANCE FROM THE REST OF THE SNOBS.
I’m just sayin:
Dont go to France, start speaking German & expect people to understand you. Thats stupid.
^^^^^^^
As a former “backpacker” (none?) that moved south, I get where you’re comin from. The snobbery pisses me off too, especially when you hear people name drop Mos, Kweli, Comm, etc as if they INVENTED underground…I had no appreciation for anything south that wasn’t DF/Suave House/Rap-A-Lot related until I moved there. Since then I have expanded my catalog to include Pastor Troy, Dro, Slim Thug etc… I think the other side to that is the South was ignored for so long that now that they’re the gatekeepers, they’re on some reverse-elitist, let-any-swag-rapper wit a hot beat get a pass, and biased against any artist that leans too east-coast. Like, niggas in ATL was REAL mad when Pimp C went off last year, like he aired they dirty laundry… My homegirl works in a record store near downtown ATL and she said last july when Common’s LP dropped one of franchize boyz comes in to drop off tapes, like “what’s new on the shelf?” she says, “that new common is out” he goes “nah, I can’t listen to that nigga, he be rappin bout children dying and shit…blah blah,” shit was funny and sad at the same time… basically I agree wit u tho… and I like I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T too *shh don’t tell nobody else*
P.S. Since ur from across tha pond, whadya think of Dizzee signing wit Rap-A-Lot?

WORD TO JOE 88 BILLZ AND ALL THE KOBE HATERS

^ eh depends on what you’re after a quick hit or career longevity? there are alot of one hit wonder cats that did bug numbers, but their careers died after that one song.. then you got artists like red, the roots, trick, face, etc etc that never did major numbers (respectable but not massive) but have actual CAREERS.

Was at the club two weeks ago. This came on. Shorties and herbs went crazy. I think this song is the embodiement of everything that’s wrong with the music right now, (not because its catchy or Southern, but because its lazy and derivitive) but I wanted to answer your question.
___________________________________________________________
What else are you suppose to be doing at the club? Who puts lyrical words on a song made for the club? This is the reason why they made the song.

I disagree. Charles Barkley is a legend regardless of the fact he never won a ring. I think Chingy went plat once, didn’t he? If he didn’t, there’s some others rappers that went platinum that aren’t thought of today even in the least bit.

there are plenty of NBA players that have rings that didnt desearve them. but still the goal is to win a ring. the goal is to go platinum. If such and such is yourt favorite rapper, of course yougonna check the scans to see if he gets his just deserve

What do you consider old age? Drinking age? Voting? perhaps Driving privelage? What i’m saying is that because you weren’t listening to rap when Wu got on means you wouldn’t understand anything I’m talking about, meaning you can’t build with me. Don’t take it as shots, if so your surely lost, but then again if you think the “importance” of rappers judge their ability then you already have. i’ve smoked alot of weed from late 90′s to now, so i can’t remember.

Co-Sign, I def agree, but I think most cats who are “complaining†aren’t really SO mad at the actual artists/songs that they hear in clubs(the blackstar track “HaterPlayers†comes to mind), but rather at the LACK of BALANCE in the industry. As in, if you DON’T have a tittybar/club record then you DON’T even make it to the shelves (signed to a major) unless your mans is CEO (c) Beans & Free

I dont think thats true though…You just have to have a song that actually CONNECTS with the public…Something they WANT to sing along to…Look at that “Independant” song…
Alot of dudes just preach to the choir, then get suprised when their fanbase NEVER expands. They’re bascially spitting just to please the people that know them already. Which is cool. Just dont complain, because you know what you’re doing.
You can put your message on a “club” beat. Why not? I’d love to hear that…Why does everyone with something to say fit the same “incense” stereotype?

So Ja rule songs weren’t played in the strip club? 112 is an r&b group and strippers dance to r&b music. Mobb deep is an east coast thing, just like a good mobb group.
I get what you’re saying but you’re naming people that only reside in New York? wasn’t that a dominant form of hip-hop back then?
Isn’t the music that you liked when you were 15-25, the likliest of music that you will be listening too throughout most of your years?
What new and fresh artist comes out when they are 30? So of course the music is not going to be the same.
