Beanie Sigel Sentenced to 3 Months in Jail
A federal judge tossed Beans back in jail yesterday for repeated violations of his supervised release.
Authorities said Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, gave a false urine sample to probation officials on Feb. 29 and also tested positive five times earlier this month for controlled substances, including Xanax and Percocet.
The former is used to treat anxiety and the latter is typically used to treat moderate to severe pain, but is considered very addictive.
U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick sentenced Sigel, 34, to three months in prison and one additional year of supervised release, which he is to continue in a drug-treatment program.
Beanie told the judge that he started using drugs again as a result of financial pressure he has been under since being on supervised release. According to him, he only gets 14 cents from each album he sells, and his legal situation doesn’t allow him to tour and collect show money.
Why would anybody ever sign a contract where they only received 14 cents for their product?

Jay wasn’t at Def Jam to “turn it into an R&B label.” He was there to “validate” Def Jam’s status in the rap game after Kevin Liles and Lyor Cohen left….but I agree….Jay in the end…..looked out for Jay…Budweiser, HP, etc. It used to be about promoting the label as a brand…wasn’t it every rapper’s dream a while back to “be on Def Jam?” I SERIOUSLY doubt that is the case now….

i aint readin this whole thread but the article actually states he makes 14 cents on the dollar of every album sold, so that means he probably banks closer to a dollar or two per disc.. either way beans is straight stupid, crazy waste of talent at work

14 cents is probably a ‘good’ contract. Its more or less the going rate, he aint getting raped more than any other of your favorite rappers. Learn the business and stop being fooled by big chains.

beans didn’t say 14 cents an album, he said 14 cents on the dollar … obviously still peanuts, but probably not much less than all your favorite rappers make … see rule #4080 …
(it also was possibly just cap for the judge, who wasn’t tryin to hear it) …
